OH! HELLO, THERE! I'M SAM MCALLISTER, A FORMER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT.

I know, I know. Pretty much everyone in this country is a former high school student, but I figured I'd just remind anyone reading this "about me" section that I too, have walked those long, school halls.

While high school for me was fun and memorable, I am glad those years are behind me. High school can be hard, no doubt, but there are lots of good memories to be had as well. I would assume most of you feel this way to some degree, and that is why it is so important to document this amazing transition in your life. You only graduate from high school once!

Enough about my high school experience, though. Let's swivel and talk about what I do today. I'm still involved in the high school world, but in a different way: through photography.

Yep. I've been photographing high school students for their senior portraits for going on four years now. And you wanna know what? I absolutely love every second of it! I love the process from start to finish.

FROM SAMANTHA MCALLISTER PHOTOGRAPHY

Meeting the students I photograph, I learn about their passions and interests, and I hear about their future plans and aspirations. I help to plan their outfits, props and backdrops for their senior portraits. I am there every step of the way. I like to consider myself somewhat of a mentor in that regard, but maybe that's me pushing it a little bit. ;)

Speaking of styling, I love to take a super customized approach to all my senior portrait photography. After all, this is about YOU, and it is going to be AWESOME! Every image will reflect your tastes, your interests and your personality.

Whether you're still in the process of hunting for the perfect senior portrait photographer or you're dead set on having me photograph you, I'd love to introduce myself and learn more about you.

Let's talk! Mセ@

You've got the outfit planned ... nowwhat? There are lots to consider when getting your pictures done. While everyone has their own method of preparation, I can definitely give you some insider tips for how to prepare and make sure your senior photo shoot is a smashing success.

PLAN AHEAD Several months before your session -- two or three, give or take--is the best time to start thinking about the big day. Start a Pinterest board, start dog-earing magazine pages and definitely start trying on various clothing to see what you feel best in. As the day gets closer, start narrowing down your inspiration boards and ideas. That includes outfits, hair and makeup for women, and even props.

CHOOSING PROPS Speaking of props, those can be a really important part of your photo session. I will take photographs of you without props, but it is a good idea to include pictures of you with meaningful items that represent who you are if we can.

CHOOSING THE LOCATION Selecting where you have your photos taken goes along with choosing props. I have a whole list oflocations to choose from and we'll talk details once you book. Meanwhile, it's a good idea to get the gears turning. Think about what kind of a vi be you want for your pictures. Is it earthy? Urban? Academic?

INA RUSH? Waited until the last minute? Not a problem! Call to see if there are any days that aren't fully booked, and we can get your senior portraits finished in time. Sometimes, some of the greatest ideas come when you are on a time crunch. You can still research some ideas for your photo session on Pinterest, on my website or Face book.
