A traditional paper notebook has several disadvantages:• Too often the notebook is not maintained, or is
maintained improperly for legal purposes.• Computer-based data must be printed out and
attached to the notebook in paper format.• Data in the notebook is not easily indexed or
searched.• Work in the Laboratory is duplicated and collaborative
opportunities are lost.
Is an Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) a viable tool to address any or all of these issues?
