Barn Pole Pavilion and Meyers Park * September 12, 2020

NTX Member Appreciation Picnic

Well, dust off your Benzes and come on down to our annual Members Picnic, on September 12 at 1:00pm thru 4:00pm.

We will be at the Beautiful Barn Pole facility at Myers Park in McKinney, same place as last year.

We will be observing social distancing rules, a mask is required to enter the facility, everyone attending will need sign the non-contact with covid19 sheet and get their temperature taken at the registration table. Couples will be seated at tables according to state regulations.

Our caterer also has strict rules of safe food serving, distancing in the line, and all food or soft drinks refills be done with new plates and cups. We will have recorded music and a Clean Car Show with prizes.

We are limited to the number of members that can attend because of the restricted capacity, you need to register with PayPal, a registration fee of $5.00 will be required, per person, refundable at the registration table when you come in, no refunds for no shows. Last day for registration with PayPal, September 8.

So, come on down, spend a great afternoon with friends and other club members, we are going to have a safe and a great get together afternoon and as usual it’s FREE.

Welcome!

September 12th is the date of our 2020 membership appreciation picnic, and we are expecting a great attendance. Probably by the time you read this newsletter we will have been there and done that. Our 2020 events calendar has been gutted from March 2020 and beyond, but we were able to squeeze in a couple of events in June with the private tour of Globe Life Field 6/27 and Mel’s driving event the Saturday before, 6/20.

Your events planning committee has been scrambling to schedule socially responsible and entertaining events. Our membership lunches have been postponed until CDC, state and local orders allow greater facility utilization.

The North Texas Section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America (MBCA) is dedicated to enhancing the ownership experience of the finest automobiles in the world. We engage in a variety of activities throughout the year that hopefully appeal to a broad section of our membership.

Currently our membership totals almost 1000 members who are committed to furthering their experience and enjoyment of their cars. Whether you’re a gear head, performance driver, rally enthusiast, cultural maven or social mingler, the MBCA North Texas Section had an upcoming event for you. Check out the Events section to see what’s coming up during the year, and for details on events that are just over the horizon.

Typically, our membership lunches attract 25 to 50 members and guests.

Stay tuned for more information about our 2020 Holiday party and Oktoberfest events. You may have noticed that Addison has canceled their Oktoberfest event, so we will not be going there, but the Bavarian Grill in Plano is on our schedule for October 8th.

An ever-popular driving event is the Autumn Trails Parade and Drive to Winnsboro October 24th. This is scheduled to be an all-day event with further information on both our website and the weekly email blasts typically sent out on Tuesday.

We are bringing back the popular Day at the Range!

We will again visit Amarillo Guns in Nevada TX. They have a great outdoor shooting range that includes a 25 yard Handgun range, a 50, 100 & 150 yard Rifle range and a new tactical range.

We will start with a safety briefing then go out for about 90 minutes of shooting and finish with a short competition.

After a relaxing morning at the range we will go over to Soulman’s for awesome BBQ! If you are a fan of shooting and BBQ, you do not want to miss this event!

Bavarian Grill in Plano has again invited us to join them for our annual Oktoberfest Dinner.

We will start at 6:00pm. Great German food and the best German beer selection in American will be available for order. They are already set up for perfect social distancing and will make this a great evening.

Once again, we are going to take our fall drive to Winnsboro, TX and it will be for the 56th Annual Autumn Trails Event which is an annual month-long event for the town of Winnsboro.

Saturday the 24nd is for Antique Cars and car clubs that features a parade into downtown. It will be a fun day with our club participating in the parade and for those who have attended in the past, seeing the kids and throwing candy is worth the trip.

The events began 56 years ago with the Model A Club of Dallas, seeing the cars is also amazing with some great restorations of these historic cars. With the coronavirus guidelines regarding groups and social distancing this year we will not be scheduling a lunch afterward. There are several fast food restaurants at the highway 30 and highway 11 exit and into Sulphur Springs there are also restaurants.

We will be forming up for the parade on Highway 11 in the same place as last year. Just remember to bring candy, lots of candy to throw out to the kids on the parade route. This has been a lot of fun for our club in the past; you won’t believe all of the cars and the kids on the parade route are the most fun of all.
