Definition: •The act or process of establishing a colony or colonies
• Think about the 13 Colonies!
Colonization
The practice of having power over a nation/region by gaining authority/control over political and economic activities.
Imperialism
To divide into parts or shares.
Partition(-ing)
Boundaries or borders that are not formed naturally.
Remember that artificial boundaries created in the Ottoman Empire?
Artificial Boundaries
Fight between opposing (opposite) groups within a country in hope to gain control.
Civil War
Use the green textbook (pg. 69) to complete the map on African colonization. It should be color coded by country and write in the independence dates for each.
