京都。かつて都であったこの地では、古くから日本のさまざまな文化が生まれ、出会い、発展してきました。現在、海外において紹介される日本の優れた伝統文化の多くは、京都でそのかたちをなしたと言っても過言ではありません。とりわけ食とその周辺においては、京都は日本

の中心であり、懐石や茶道といった世界的にも例を見ないほどに洗練された文化を生み出してきました。そしてそれと歩みを同じくして、食器や茶器などのうつわもまた、類まれなる発展を遂げました。巧緻な絵付けが隅々にまで施されたもの、大胆

な釉薬の重なりが自然の雄大さを感じさせるもの、思いがけない絵柄や色の組み合わせが想像力を掻き立てるもの――。目の肥えた京都の町衆や料理人、茶人の多様な要望に応えるべく、京都の職人たちは技と知恵を惜しみなく注ぎ込んで、実に豊かな表情をもった陶磁器を数多く創り出してきました。またそれは同時に、窯を何度も行き来させながらいくつもの工程を重ねて完成させる独自の生産形態も築き上げてきました。

こうして生まれた京都独自の陶磁器は「京焼・清水焼」と呼ばれ、国より伝統的工芸品指定を受けるとともに、現在も広く日本の暮らしを華やかに彩っています。

西川貞三郎商店は、昔から京都に脈々と続くこうした清水焼の伝統を大切にしながら、「貞雲」・「かより」・「見立て」の３つの楽しみ方を提供しています。

of a wide variety of ceramics of rich expression.

At the same time, in the midst of the busy

exchange between a large number of kilns, the

overlapping of a number of processes has

established a unique form of production.

Born in this manner, the singular ceramics of

Kyoto are called Kyoto Yaki (Kyoto Ware) or

Kiyomizu Yaki (Kiyomizu Ware). Along with

receiving national designation as a traditional art,

these ceramics continue to bring rich color and

expression to life all over Japan.

Since long ago, T. Nishikawa & Co., Inc. has

unceasingly cherished and looked after these

traditional ceramics. Today we would like to

present “KUMO”, “KAYORI”, and “MITATE”: three

dif ferent ways to enjoy the rich tradition of Kyoto

Ware / Kiyomizu Ware.

Kyoto. Since ages ago, this place, at the spot

of the former capital, has been witness to the

bir th, confluence, and development of the varied

expressions of Japanese culture. Today, it would

be no exaggeration to say that it is Kyoto that has

introduced the exceptional traditional culture of

Japan to the world.

Especially in regards to cuisine, Kyoto is the

emphatic center of Japan. It is here that the arts

of the tea ceremony and of kaiseki cuisine have

reached a level of refinement unseen on earth. In

partnership with these culinary advancements,

level of development.

“Kyoto Ware / Kiyomizu Ware” are terms for a

regional product produced by a large number of

small potters (called “kama”, which means “kiln”).

Each kiln has its own inherited techniques and its

own characteristics and idiosyncrasies. This

simultaneous diversity and specialization, produced

in response to the discerning eyes of Kyoto’s

aesthetes, chefs, and tea masters, continues to

bring brilliant color to life in Japan.

藤田瑞古瑞古窯　

京焼・清水焼伝統工芸士。1944年広島生まれ。1988年瑞古窯を開窯。華麗な染付や上絵を施し、限界まで薄く作られた磁器を得意とし、割烹食器を中心に作陶しています。

Zuiko FujitaZuiko-Gama Pottery

Master of the Traditional Arts and Crafts of Kyoto Ware / Kiyomizu Ware. Born in 1944, Hiroshima Pref. Opened his own kiln in 1988.Imparting magnificent blue and white patterns and other designs to his products, Mr. Fujita specializes in delicate porcelain designed to the limit of possible thinness. He mainly produces porcelain for use in cuisine.

谷口登志雄翠雲窯　

京焼・清水焼伝統工芸士。1951年京都生まれ。中村翠嵐氏に師事し、交趾技法を習得。1983年独立開窯。茶陶をはじめ、食器、花器、香道具など華美な交趾を専門に作陶しています。

Toshio TaniguchiSuiun-Gama Pottery

Master of the Traditional Arts and Crafts of Kyoto Ware / Kiyomizu Ware. Born in 1951, Kyoto Pref. Learned the techniques of Cochin as an apprentice to Suiran Nakamura. Opened his own kiln in 1983.Beginning with tea bowls, he also now produces bowls, flower vases, incense burners and other articles in the grand Cochin style.

Master of the Traditional Arts and Crafts of Kyoto Ware / Kiyomizu Ware. Born in 1961, Kyoto Pref. Apprenticed to the second Kouhou.Mr. Kumamoto mainly produces porcelain adorned with the landscapes and auspicious decorations that are his specialty. He is always actively drawing inspiration and techniques from the world of under glaze paintings.

京焼・清水焼伝統工芸士。三代・平安一陶。1966年京都生まれ。土山松泉氏のもとで修行。1991年に一陶を襲名。染付祥瑞、着彩上絵、金襴など、特に呉須による染付の磁器を得意とし、主に割烹食器を作陶しています。

Shinya HarutaIttou-Gama Pottery

Master of the Traditional Arts and Crafts of Kyoto Ware / Kiyomizu Ware. The third Heian Ittou. Born in 1966, Kyoto Pref. Studied under Shousen Tsuchiyama. Succeeded the Ittou name in 1991.Blue and white porcelain with auspicious designs, colored figures, gold brocading, and other techniques, particularly blue and white Gosu porcelain, are his specialties. Mr. Haruta largely produces ware for use in cuisine.

高島慎一洸春窯　

京焼・清水焼伝統工芸士。三代目・高島洸春。1972年京都生まれ。二代・高島洸春に師事。2005年に独立開窯。鮮やかな色合いの交趾を中心に、交趾の新しい表現にも取り組みながら作陶しています。

1959年京都生まれ。前田正範の次男として生まれ、師事。華麗な装飾を施す仁清物の茶道具などを中心に作陶しています。

Yasunori MaedaAntoku-Gama Pottery

Born in 1959, Kyoto pref. Second son and apprentice to Masanori Maeda. Focused on producing objects of r ich ornamentation in the Ninsei style for use in the tea ceremony and other similar applications.

井栗敏也敏也窯　

1962年京都生まれ。河島浩三氏に師事。1984年敏也窯を開窯。焼〆など、暖かく優しい表情のある土物を作陶しています。

Born in 1962, Kyoto Pref. Apprenticed to Kouzou Kawashima. Opened the Toshiya-Gama kiln in 1984.Produces ceramics of a warm and kind expression using techniques such as Yakishime and others.

京焼・清水焼のお取扱いについて | INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE64

焼き物の中には磁器（石もの）と陶器（土もの）があります。陶器は吸水性・通気性に富み、永く使って頂くほど味わいと風合いが出てます。

上手な使い方使う前にぬるま湯に浸して、あらかじめ生地に水分を含ませてご使用頂くと茶渋・染み等が付きにくくなります。陶器は吸水性があり、水分と共に汚れを吸収したままにすると、カビが発生する原因になります。ご使用後はきれいな水ですすいだ後、よく乾燥させてから収納してください。陶器は磁器に比べて生地の粒子が粗くなってますので、お取扱いには特にご注意ください。

色絵陶磁器について色絵、金・銀彩を施した陶磁器は、電子レンジなど高温になる器具でのご使用はお避けください。釉薬が溶け出したり色絵が剥がれる等の原因になります。彩は時間の経過と共に酸化し変色することがあります。黒ずんだ場合は専用の磨き剤あるいは消しゴム等で軽く磨いて頂ければ美しさがよみがえります。漂白剤のご使用はお避けください。

交趾について交趾釉薬の製品は熱湯を急に注ぐ等の急激な温度変化によって破損することがありますのでご注意ください。梅干し等の酸の強いもの、塩昆布等の塩分の強いものに長時間触れる状態は避けてください。変色・変質の原因になります。

貫入について貫入の商品は釉薬（うわぐすり）に硝子釉を使用しており、貫入と呼ばれる細かなヒビが入っています。これは他の陶器では見られない優雅な特徴です。

焼物の使用上の注意事項熱湯を注いだり、直火にかけたりする等の急激な温度変化によって破損することがあります。塗盆、漆卓などの上で底を擦ると傷を付ける場合があります。クレンザーや研磨剤付きのナイロンたわしなどで強く擦らないでください。金が剥げたり表面を傷付ける原因になります。電子レンジ、ガス製品等でのご使用は充分にご注意ください。食洗機でのご使用はお控えください。表面を傷付ける原因になります。

鉄瓶急須について直火には掛けないでください。鉄瓶急須の内側に施した錆止めのホーローは熱に弱く割れる可能性があります。付属の茶漉しはステンレス製です。

Our products are both porcelain and ceramics. As ceramics have high rates of both water absorbency and breathability, they will acquire characteristic flavors and textures over periods of extended use.

Instructions for Correct Use:Before use please soak in warm water. Ware that retains a high degree of water is more resistant to tea stains and other discolorations.As ceramics are absorbent, they can absorb dir ty or unclean water. This can then become a source of mold. After use, please rinse your ceramics with clean water and store them only after they have been well-dried. As ceramics are of a rougher grain than porcelain, please take extra care in their treatment.

About Colored Ceramics:Please do not use ceramics and porcelain that have been adorned with colors or gold and silver on stoves or other appliances that operate at a high heat. Such heat can cause the colors to dissolve and the paintings to peel away.After long periods of time, colors may change due to oxidization. In the case that colors have darkened, by use of a special polishing agent or possibly an eraser or other such item, colors may be lightly polished to return to their original color. Please avoid the use of bleach.

About Cochin:Please be aware that items with a Cochin glaze may be damaged by sudden changes in temperature due to the abrupt pouring of hot water or other similar actions.Please avoid exposing Cochin items to foods that are highly acidic, such as umeboshi, or highly salty, such as salted kombu, for long periods of time. Such exposure can result in discoloration or deterioration.

About Intrusion:Intruded items use a glass glaze and are called “intruded” because of the fine cracks that appear in the glaze. This is a refined feature not found in other ceramics.

Key Point for Use:Damage to the ware may occur from sudden changes in temperature caused by a direct heat, the abrupt pouring of boiling water, or similar actions. When used on top of painted plates or lacquer trays, be aware that the bottom may rub and cause damage. Please do not scrub your ware strongly with abrasive sponges or brushes, as these may cause peeling or damage. Take appropriate caution when using with gas or microwave ovens. Please refrain from cleaning your ware using a dishwasher.

About Cast Iron Teapots:Please do not place over direct heat. The inside of the teapot has been treated with a rust-proofing enamel that may rupture under exposure to heat. The included tea strainer is made of stainless steel.
