太陽能的優劣

太陽能發電的優點 乾淨取之不盡系統維護簡單

太陽能發電的缺點稀薄性間歇性

太陽輻射能太陽能即地球接收自太陽之輻射能。地球與大氣圈不斷地自太陽獲得 0.17×1018W 之輻射量，數量實在大得難以想像。假設每人平均需要 103W ，則一百億人才不過是需要 1013W ，因此只要將抵達地表太陽能的百分之一轉換成可用的能量，則滿足全球能源需求已是綽綽有餘。

太陽常數

地球除自轉外，並以橢圓形之軌道繞行太陽。光或熱之強度與距離平方成反比，故太陽對地表之輻射量亦非常數。一般所謂之太陽常數，係指當地球位於太陽與地球之平均距離，在地球大氣外圍垂直太陽輻射能之單位面積上於單位時間內所通過之太陽輻射量。目前，公認之太陽常數為 1353 瓦／平方米。

單結晶矽太陽電池 單晶矽電池最為普遍，多用於發電廠、充電系統、道路照明系統及交通號誌等，所發電力與電壓範圍廣，轉換效率高，使用年限長。

多晶矽太陽電池

多晶矽太陽電池其光電轉換效率稍低於單晶矽太陽電池，但是材料製造簡便，節約電耗，生產成本較低。

非晶矽太陽電池 非晶矽太陽電池是 1976 年出現的新型薄膜式太陽電池，矽材料消耗很少，電量消耗更低，它的主要優點是在弱光條件也能發電。

有機太陽電池優點製程簡易可大面積及低溫製作 (20-200°C) 成本低廉 具可撓性 (flexibility)

有機太陽電池分類染料感光太陽電池 (dye-sensitized solar cells) 小分子太陽電池 (molecular solar cells): 高分子太陽電池 (polymer solar cells; plastic solar cells)

-光電轉化效率高，成本高，製程複雜以無機鹽如砷化鎵、硫化鎘、銅銦硒等為材料的電池
