PROGRAM DETAILS

During this unique program, we will be exploring various dimensions of Isha yoga to give participants a wider, deeper understanding and tangible experience of the ancient science of Yoga. These dimensions include: Nada Yoga, Mantra Yoga, Shakti Yoga, Upa Yoga, Hata Yoga and Kriya Yoga. In addition, participants can learn simple aspects of Bhuta Shuddhi, purificatory processes which will provide the essential foundation for the other types of yoga as well as Angamardhana.

ISHA YOGA

“Isha” literally means “formless divinity.” Isha Yoga is a scientifically structured and comprehensive system of yoga designed by Sadhguru, to tap the wealth of vibrant life within oneself. Distilling ancient yogic methods for a modern person, Isha Yoga creates peak physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, and accelerates inner growth. The main feature of Isha Yoga in this retreat is the Inner Engineering program and the initiation into the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya, aneortless yet powerful daily process for deep inner transformation.

NADA YOGA

“Nada” means “sound” in Sanskrit. A sound is heard because there is a vibration. Today, modern science recognizes that everything is just a vibration, but in yoga, which has always been experiential in nature, the same truth was expressed as “Nada Brahma” – where the entire existence is just a play of sounds. In terms of human experience, both what binds and what releases one from inner blocks or limitations, is just sound. It is from this understanding that Nada Yoga was developed as the science of using sounds to transform the human system and the atmospheres in which we live.

MANTRA YOGA

A mantra is a pure sound. Every sound has a corresponding form in the universe. When we perceive the relationship between the form and the sound, this is known as Mantra Yoga. Mantras are key sounds that are capable of opening up dierent dimensions of life and experience within you. With a direct connection to the human system, proper utterance of these sounds in full awareness can activate certain parts of the body and set forth a reverberation that brings about the desired eect upon the person. It features: Primordial sound.

SHAKTI YOGA

“Shakti” means “energy” in Sanskrit. A complex and intricate underlying energy system exists within each human being. By keeping this system in proper balance and flow, one can dramatically enhance one’s physical and mental wellbeing. Hence, Shakti Yoga is a way of transforming your energies towards your liberation and wellbeing. It features:

ISHA KRIYA

Isha Kriya™ is a simple yet potent meditation practice rooted in the timeless wisdom of the yogic sciences. “Isha” refers to that which is the source of creation; “kriya” literally means “internal action.” The purpose of Isha Kriya is to help an individual get in touch with the source of his existence, to create life according to his own wish and vision. Through this 12-minute practice, you can pursue immediate and ultimate wellbeing. Daily practice of Isha Kriya brings health, dynamism and happiness. It is a powerful tool to cope with the hectic pace of modern life.

UPA YOGA

Upa means “ Pre” or preparatory. It is a simple preparatory form of yoga. It enhances the function of the muscular system by removing inertia from the body to help one live a dynamic, healthy life. It features Sadilaja meaning “born out of looseness” which involves gentle yet eective stretches. Sadilaja lubricates the joints and activates the energy nodes in the system.

HATA YOGA

“Ha” means “Sun” and “Ta” means “Moon.” Hata Yoga is yoga of the Sun and Moon, which corresponds to the masculine and feminine nature of the human being. Through physical postures, or asanas, Hata Yoga brings a balance between these two fundamental qualities. When done with the proper attitude and awareness, Hata Yoga can break deep karmic bondages and shape the system into a receptacle for the Divine. It features:

SURYAKRIYA

“Surya” means sun, and “kriya” refers to inner energy process. Suryakriya is a powerful practice involving precise physical postures and a pattern of breathing to activate the “samatprana” or the solar heat in the system. The sun being the source of all life on this planet, also governs your physical, mental and spiritual health. It is a way of aligning your system to the cosmic geometry to bring in a new level of radiance and vibrancy into the system.

BHUTA SHUDDHI

The body is just a play of the five elements (earth, water, fire, wind and space), and cleansing the elements in the system is referred to as Bhuta Shuddhi. This cleansing will lead to another state called Bhuta Siddhi, a mastery over the elements, which in turn means mastery over one’s body and the physical world around us. In the short duration of this program, some purificatory processes will be given for participants to have a taste, if not mastery, of this fundamental aspect of yoga. It features:

AURA CLEANSING

“Aura” is a certain field of light and energy around each body. As a part of Bhuta Shuddhi, we will be using the five elements to cleanse the aura.

BHUTA SHUDDHI: ONE WITH THE EARTH

In terms of elements, earth, or prithvi, is of utmost significance as what you call as “body” is just a piece of the planet. Being in touch and in communication with the earth leads to an enormous sense of wellbeing. To make use of this, yogis of the past used to bury themselves up to the neck. Here, we will not go to such extremes, but will evolve a simple process to bring contact with the planet as physical wellbeing can essentially only be earned by being in touch with the planet.

ANGAMARDHANA

“Anga” means limbs or parts of the body. “Mardhana” means to gain control over. Angamardhana is a unique and intense form of exercises and processes that is almost extinct today. It does not require any equipment; rather it uses the body alone to build a completely dierent level of physical strength and tenacity. This is a way of gaining total mastery over your body.

REIKI HEALING

Reiki is a gentle hands-on healing technique that promotes a deep level of relaxation and healing on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Reiki uses the universal life force of energy to break up blockages within the body, allowing healing energy to flow freely and stimulate the body's natural ability to heal itself.
