POSITIONS HELD Science Communication & 03/15 – current Engagement Specialist INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR Independently create and execute a 2-day
science communication workshop for graduate students and faculty at the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity in Paris.
Host science communication seminars within universities and minority-serving conferences including Emory University, The University of Cincinnati, George Mason University, Cambridge University, and the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS).
Create marketing and communication materials for GEN3i; an IT data management, storage, archive, compliance, and security company; helping secure a $450,000 contract.

Scientific Programs & Outreach Manager 12/15 – 09/17 CARNEGIE INSTITUTION FOR SCIENCE
Provide leadership of scientific programs, outreach, and special initiatives intended to broaden the reach of scientific research, both within the worldwide scientific community and the general public. Accomplishments include being awarded $500,000 grant for a new “Science & Society” program.
Manage all partnerships between Carnegie Science and other research institution, government agencies, nonprofits, media outlets, and corporations on outreach & engagement initiatives.
Conceive, execute, and manage scientific events (ex. film premiers, conferences, receptions, press briefings, panel discussions, etc.) including Carnegie’s “Capital Science Evening Lectures,” a series of 10 free and engaging science events attracting between 400-450 individuals per program.
Direct Carnegie’s outreach and marketing products, including extensive projects like the creation of a Carnegie Science promotional video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLhriEYgF9o).
Director, Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellows Program 10/12 – 11/15 AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE
Independently manage all aspects of the AAAS Mass Media Fellows (MMF) program and AAAS Minority Science Writer's Interns Program including fundraising, program development, and implementation. Accomplishments include a 100% growth of the program and 80% increase in outside funding for MMF in 2yrs. New partnerships forged between WIRED, National Geographic, Slate, CNN, KQED, PBS News Hour, Univision, & others.
Envision, develop, and implement the Spanish Language Fellows Program within MMF, placing Spanish-speaking scientists at media sites, resulting in 100% external funding after its first year.
Project Director, Education and Human Resources Programs 10/12 – 11/15 AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE
Independently coordinate numerous special events and meetings through public engagement and education, serving thousands of individuals and managing extensive budgets. In one instance, helping to secure twice the event budget ($20,000 to $40,000) through corporate donations and serving 2,000 underserved students in one day.
Manage the AAAS Board-appointed Committee on Science and Technology Engagement with the Public; includes coordinating all aspects of the AAAS Public Engagement with Science Award (quadrupling the amount of nominations received over 2 years through advanced promotion).
Provide career resources, student resources, communication, and science communication presentations, workshops, written materials, & other guidance to scientists and the public.
Serve on 7 selection committees and/or advisory groups within and outside of AAAS, including as 2015 Chair of the Health Education & Human Services S&T Policy Fellowship selection committee and a member of the taskforce on short & long-range planning of member & public engagement.
Graduate Researcher 9/06 – 6/12 CLOUD & AEROSOL LAB, PROJECT ADVISOR: DR. PATRICK CHUANG, EARTH & PLANETARY SCIENCES DEPT., UCSC
Completed a series of extensive climate (1 year) and paleo-climate (1 year) courses along with additional computational, mathematical, and physical sciences courses.
Assessed, processed, and interpreted cloud microphysical data using flight-based instrumentation that I installed, operated, and maintained on 5 field campaigns.
