Total Ca rs o traffic at India's State Maritime/ State Directorate Maritime transport activity is driven by developments in world economy. viz, growth in world output and lrade. Thus, volume of seaborne cargo traffic handled by ports is mainly shaped by the levels and changes in both the global and domestic activity. Cargo traffic at Non-Major Ports during April- September, 2020-21, decreased by 13.9% to 256.72 million tonnes from 298.30 million tonnes handled during April-September, 2019-20. The overseas cargo traffic handled at Non-Major Ports during April-September,2020-21 decreased by ll.5% to 224.81 million tonnes from 253.93 million tonnes during April-September, 2019-20. The coastal cargo traffic handled at Non-Major Ports during April-september. 2020-21 decreased by 28.1o/o to 31.92 million tonnes from 44.37 million tonnes handled during April-september. 201 9-20. During September, 2020. the Non-Major Ports of Directorate of Ports, Puducherry recorded highest growth in traffic ol 7l .7o/o, followed by the Non-Major Pofts of Directorate of ports, Odisha (56.9%), Directorate of Ports. FRM Liquid (2.60/o) and Conrainer (0.7%). project Cargorecorded highest negative growth of63.6% in September. 2020 followed by orher ores (45.1%),Edibf e oil (27 .3o/o). PoL products (18.7%\, Thermal Coal ( I 7.8%) and Building Marerial (3.7%).

Container handled the maximum cargo traffic of 8.55 Million tonneswith share of lE.2"h in September 2020 followed by poL crude (14.4%), orher Coal (14.1%\.PoL Products (10.3%). other commodiries (9.6%), Thermal Coal (7.4%o), lron ore pellets/ Fine(6.0%). coking coal (5.8%), LPC or LNG (5.0%), Fertilizer (4.2%). Cement ( I .6%), Iron & Steel( 1.3%), Food-grains excluding Pulses (0.6%), Edible oil (0.5%). Sugar (0.4%), other ores andFRM Liquid (0.3%) each and Building Materiat (0.2%).
