The report meets the requirements of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure Act — which is intended to provide students and the public with access to information critical to their safety. This year, the report contains a new section: Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Harassment Guidelines. The change was made in response to new legislation. The Campus Safety Department prepares this report annually to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act. The report is prepared in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies near our main campus and the North Orange County Community College District Office. The report can be viewed at: http://news.CypressCollege.edu/ Documents/2014-Annual-Safety-and-Security-Report.pdf. This year, the report is also being provided in digital book formats for popular devices, including Kindle, the iPhone, iPad, and Nook. Students were notified of its availability via the campus website, the myGateway por- tal, and the College’s social media properties. Paper copies of the report will be available through the Campus Safety Office. The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is a federal law that requires colleges and universities to disclose certain timely and annual information about campus crime and security policies. All public and private post sec- ondary educational institutions participating in federal student aid programs are required to comply with it. The law, originally enacted by Congress in 1990 as the Campus Security Act, was initiated by Howard and Connie Clery after their daughter Jeanne was tragically murdered at Lehigh University in 1986. Amendments to the Act in 1998 renamed it in memory of Jeanne Clery. Cypress College’s 2014 Annual Security and Safety report is now available. The report meets the requirements of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure Act — which is intended to provide students and the public with access to information critical to their safety.

The Effectiveness of School Bonds: Cypress College President Dr. Bob Simpson

To Speak at Chamber of Commerce Networking Breakfast

CYPRESS—Cypress College President Dr. Bob Simpson will be the guest speaker at the Chamber of Commerce Networking Breakfast October 14 at the Residence Inn by Marriott (4931 Katella Avenue, Los Alamitos) at 7:30 a.m. Dr. Simpson will discuss the pros, cons, and impact of school bonds in general, with an emphasis on Measure J, which affects the North Orange Community College District. Reservations are required and can be made though the Cypress Chamber of Commerce at (714) 827-2430. Cost of the breakfast is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Attendees are encouraged to bring door prizes to promote their product or service. The programs include a meet and greet time, self introductions, breakfast, speaker and a question and answer session.
