status Describe post-ictal activity (duration,

Gently lower the person down Turn the head to the side and

maintain patent airway Have oxygen and suction available

(when patient has a history of seizures!)

PLACE NOTHING IN THE MOUTH!

Do not restrain the person Safe environment Loosen tight or restrictive clothing

Saline lock may be necessary. Bed: siderails should be UP

lowest position Padded siderail (agency protocol) Cyanosis is generally self-limiting;

no treatment is needed
