Alconbury Enterprise Campus
Being part of Alconbury Weald
Alconbury Enterprise Campus makes up a quarter of the Alconbury Weald development – a high quality low carbon development across this vast 575 hectare site. The development is being brought forward by experienced and respected developers and site owners Urban&Civic to craft a place for business and living which is recognised internationally, respected nationally and cherished locally: a place to make, a place to grow.
Alconbury Weald will include:
● 150 hectares of Government–backed Enterprise Zone delivering 8,000 jobs ● 5,000 homes of mixed sizes and
tenures, including low density executive housing and self-build plots
● Extensive transport links which build on its location on the spine of
the country, and include a transport hub with a railway station, Cambridge Guided Busway stop, and connections to cycle and pedestrian networks
● Cutting edge space for health, schooling and service provision, as well as community space including orchards and allotments
● Over 238 hectares of green space including the planting of over half a million trees.
Alconbury Weald lies at a crossroads of major transport links – adjacent to the North South spine of the country on the A1(M) and East Coast Main Line, and linked East/West by the A14 and Cambridge Guided Busway. It is close to the global innovation and cultural centre of Cambridge, the vibrant Cathedral city of Peterborough and the historic market town of Huntingdon.
The plans for the development have been developed in collaboration with local partners, including a 4 day Design Enquiry event which saw over 2,600 people share their views and aspirations for the development.
Being part of Alconbury Weald
The vision for the site has followed four guiding principles:
● A focus on transformational employment and enterprise: high
skill, high tech businesses, supported by training and development and driving entrepreneurship
● Linking landscapes and people: from investment in rail, bus, road and cycle ways, to green corridors for wildlife and residents to enjoy
● Using resources wisely – a low carbon approach: from recycled construction materials to the creation of a low carbon platform fit for the future which reduces, reuses and recycles water, energy and waste
● Creating a sense of place: a place crafted with people for people, which nestles into the environment, history and communities around it, and provides a great place for living, working, learning and leisure.
