After-School All-Stars 6th Grade High School Fair

What?

After-School All-Stars Chicago is organizing a district-wide 6th grade High School Fair

CPS has previously provided opportunities for 8th grade students to explore High School options

This will be an opportunity to engage younger students and their parents

We are also developing an interactive booklet for all attendees

High School Options Panel› Students and counselors from various types of High Schools will discuss their

school and answer questions from students and parents Interactive High School and Career Readiness Workshop

› We will work with a community organization to develop engaging activities emphasizing the importance of High School and what students can do now to help them achieve their long-term goals

Goal-setting workshops› Students and parents will break out into smaller sessions for goal-setting

workshops facilitated by a community organization› Counselors assist students and parents with filling out Individual Learning Plans

Financial Planning Workshop› Parents will attend a financial planning workshop to discuss ways to finance

their child’s college education Celebration and Resource Fair

› Students will attend a culminating celebration› Panelists, volunteers and workshop facilitators will be available to answer any

lingering questions students and parents may have
