Desert!

The Desert is one of the driest and hottest ecosystem. What is an ecosystem? Well it is an area within the environment that has

it own kinds of plants, soils, animals and organisms.

Biotic - is something that is alive such as plants, animals, fungi and bacteria pretty much all living things.

Abiotic – is something not alive but affecting living organisms examples are ponds, lakes, ocean, rain, snow and clouds.AbioticBiotic

annual precipitation of less than 250 millimeters, gets 21 hours of sunlight , around 30 degrees latitude.Animals of the desert include kangaroo rat, coyote, jack

rabbit And other kinds of lizards . Plants would include shrubs,

Prickly pears, desert hollyBrittle bush and cacti.

A population is all the organism that belong to the same species and live in the same area. An example is the many different kind of snakes such as rattlesnakes, coral snake and king snakes.

A community of the desert would have very dry soil but have some bushes, shrubs and cacti. The animals would either be in holes or out at night to conserve water due to the hot and dry temperatures.

Symbiotic relationship- A close relationship between organisms living side by side.

Commensalism- A symbiotic relationship in which one species benefits and

the other is neither helped nor harmed. An example of commensalism is a flat worm connecting to the horse crab and eats the crabs left over’s and the crab is not affected.

Mutualism- a symbiotic relationship between two organisms in which both

organism benefit. An example of mutualism is termites and protist. The termites eat wood but cannot digest it the protist inside the termites digest the wood for the termites.

Parasitism- a symbiotic relationship in which one species benefits and the

other is harmed.(prey and predator) An example of parasitism is with a flea and a dog the flea suck the blood from the dog and so the dog is harmed

some cool facts about deserts- Australia is 1/3 desert, 20 % of the worlds surface is desert, deserts can have crazy temperature changes 122 degrees in the day and 32 degrees at night. The impact the humans have on deserts is that we keep expanding and the deserts will be changed or be destroyed.
