Easter, 2014   Dear Parishioners and Benefactors of St. Ferdinand Parish, 

 

Easter falls right into the celebration of spring and the awakening of life after long 

winter.  Easter also initiates and introduces us to spring of a spirit in which our faith and love are 

being revitalized.  The source of inspirit is Christ’s victory over Satan, hell and death.   

Redemption of the world, which was done by Christ’s Passion, death and Resurrection, is  

bedrock of our joy and hope.   

 

The upcoming canonization of bl. Pope John XXIII and bl. Pope John Paul II helps to experience 

the actuality of the other life, the life with God behind the threshold of death and our earthly life, 

treat as a road to sainthood under the Christ’s guidance. 

 

We all recognize that because of the weak economy we experience right now, the quality of life 

becomes more challenging.  We are also witnesses to the personal, family and moral life  

endangerment.  Therefore, we should open our hearts widely for a message full of hope flowing 

from the Risen Christ. 

 

My wish to you is that the Good News will enliven your faith and deepen your bond with Christ.  

Endure in Him and his teachings, which are the moral fundamentals and a truthful layout for our 

future.  Let the truth of the Christ’s victory awaken the hope for the ultimate victory of good 

over bad and life over death.  Let the paschal joy, which we feel in our hearts today, bears a fruit 

to our daily struggles with steady and firm belief, that we all are loved and cared by our Eternal 

Lord.   

 

Share this joy with all who are weak and doubtful.   Don’t let the sensation and astonishment of 

courageous women seeing the empty tomb of Christ be extinguished within you.  They shouted 

with great joy to the depressed and miserable apostles: “ We’ve seen Christ!” 

 

Let the encounter with Resurrected Jesus and the amazement of new values in life, stay with 

you always.  Blessed and Happy Easter to all!

Jesus asked sister Faustina that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by   a Novena to Divine Mercy.  The Novena began on Good Friday and will continue through Sunday following the morning Masses at 8:00AM.  “I desire that during these nine days you bring souls to the fount of My mercy, that they may draw there from strength and refreshment and whatever grace they need in the hardship of life and,  especially, at the hour of death.   On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy, and I will bring all these souls into the house of My father. You will do this in this life and in the next. I will deny nothing to any soul whom you will bring to the fount of My mercy. On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls."

The canonization of blessed Popes John XXIII and John 

Paul II will be a joyful moment.  The history of the Church 

is the story of holiness.  It is a centuries long saga of  

disciples growing ever closer to the Lord.  Both Popes now 

join the great chorus of those recognized publicly as 

friends of the Lord, witnesses to the transforming power 

of God’s grace active in human lives.  This canonization 

will encourage everyone to stay on the path of  

discipleship.

EASTER REFLECTION 

Happy Easter Sunday! Today’s readings tell a story that is a 

cornerstone of our faith: the resurrection of Jesus. We are 

reminded in the first reading that through Jesus’s death and 

sacrifice, we are forgiven, cleansed, and saved. But we are 

also reminded that we have a responsibility to be witnesses 

and to “preach to the people.” In the responsorial psalm is a 

psalm of praise, and Easter is a time to be grateful for all 

that we have and for all that God has done in our lives, and 

a natural extension of this gratitude is to share it with oth‐

ers. 

    

We are told in the second reading to “seek what is 

above.”  It is often difficult for us to step back from our busy 

lives and take the time to evaluate what is important, but 

we need to remember that we partake in Jesus’s death and 

resurrection, and that now our lives are “hidden with Christ 

in God.” Easter is the perfect time for us to stop and look 

over our lives, to prioritize the eternal over the transient, 

and to live our lives seeking what is above, what is with God, 

and to share the happiness that we find from doing this with 

others, as Mary of Magdala did early that morning.

CONGRATULATIONS! Praised be the Lord Jesus Christ! My name is Piotr Samborski and I am a  third  year  student  of  Theology  in Mundelein  Seminary. Originally  I  am from  Poland  and  I  came  to  United States  four years ago.  I was born 25 years ago in Siedlce, where I finished elementary  school  and  high  school. My first thoughts about the priesthood already appeared in late elementary school when I joined to altar service. It was a child’s dream to become a priest. But by the time,  in my heart was crated the thought, that this is the mission, which God want to give me. I realized that through me, God wants to perform most sacred sacrifice, absolve  the people solve their  problems.  To  serve  people  as  a  Christ’s  priest. After graduation, I entered to Major Seminary in Siedlce, where I finished two years of philosophy and one year of theology. During  the  third  year,  the  day  after  I  get  a  cassock,  Fr. Marek Kasperczuk – Rector of Bishop Abramowicz Seminary ‐ came with an invitation to the ministry in the Church of the Archdiocese of Chicago. I had a feeling that I must try. I de‐cided  to  take up  this  challenge, because  the  church needs priests in Chicago. I studied English at UIC and after one year I entered Mundelein Seminary. Now I’m on 3rd year of The‐ology and in May 10th I’m going to be ordained to diaconate. I believe that the Lord God wanted this and  in  future  I will be able to serve God and people in the Church in the United States.  I promise  to pray  for you and  I ask you  for prayers for me, that I could serve from all my best. God bless you all!

The icon, a replica of the famous “Black Madonna” of Czestochowa, has traveled from the Pacific coast of Russia, throughout Europe, racking up over 40,000 miles of travel while being seen by millions of Catholic and Orthodox faithful.   

The Ocean to Ocean pilgrimage, an unprecedented effort for the international pro‐life movement, is being presented by Hu‐man Life International, the world’s largest grassroots pro‐life organization, whose European leaders launched the pilgrimage in the summer of 2012.

Drodzy Parafianie i Dobrodzieje parafii Św. Ferdynanda! 

 

Święta Wielkanocne, które obchodzimy przypadają na czas wiosny i budzącego się w przyrodzie 

życia. Wprowadzają one nas również w niezwykłą wiosnę ducha, w której dokonuje się ożywienie 

wiary i miłości. Źródłem tego ożywienia jest zwycięstwo Chrystusa nad śmiercią, piekłem 

i szatanem. Odkupienie świata, które dokonało się przez Mękę, Śmierć i Zmartwychwstanie 

Chrystusa jest fundamentem naszej radości i nadziei. Zbliżająca się kanonizacja Ijca Swietego,  

bl. Jana XXIII i  Ojca Świętego Jana Pawła II pomaga doświadczać tego realizmu innego życia, 

życia z Bogiem za progiem śmierci, a ziemską wędrówkę – traktować jako drogę uświęcenia do 

ich osiągnięcia pod przewodnictwem Jezusa Chrystusa. 

 

Mamy świadomość, że warunki życia dla wielu stają się coraz trudniejsze z powodu kryzysu 

ekonomicznego. Jesteśmy dziś też świadkami, jak zagrożone jest życie moralne poszczególnych 

osób, rodzin i świata. Tym bardziej więc powinniśmy szeroko otworzyć serca na pełne nadziei 

przesłanie płynące ze Zmartwychwstania Pańskiego.  

 

Życzę Wam, aby ta Dobra Nowina ożywiła waszą wiarę i pogłębiła więź z Chrystusem. Trwajmy 

mocno przy Chrystusie i Jego Ewangelii, która jest fundamentem ładu moralnego i właściwego 

budowania naszej przyszłości. Niech prawda o zwycięstwie Jezusa Chrystusa budzi nadzieje na 

ostateczne zwycięstwo dobra nad złem i życia nad śmiercią. Niech ta paschalna radość, którą

Pielgrzymka autokarowa organizowana przez Fundację Kultury Tatrzańskiej  Sobota, 26 kwietnia 

Wycieczka‐pielgrzymka autobusem po chicagowskich miejscach, w których znajduja się pomniki lub pamiątki  poświęcone Janowi Pawłowi II.  Autobus zabierze pielgrzymów z dwóch lokacji:

Podróżująca Ikona jest kopią oryginalnej wielkości, wykonaną tradycyjną metodą ikonograficzną. Została ona przyłożona do oryginału i poświęcona na Jasnej Górze przez abpa Stanisława Nowaka metropolitę częstochowskiego 28 stycznia 2012 roku. W swojej peregrynacji przejechała już ok. 100 tys. km. (ok. 62 tys. mil). Intencją pielgrzymki jest obrona ludzkiego życia i rodziny. 

I etap peregrynacji rozpoczął się we Władywostoku w Rosji, a zakończył w Fatimie i Nazaré w Portugalii. Trasa wiodła przez 24 kraje Azji i Europy (Rosję, Białoruś, Ukrainę, Łotwę, Litwę, Polskę, Czechy, Słowację, Węgry, Rumunię, Słowenię, Chorwację, Włochy, Austrię, Lichtenstein, Szwajcarię, Niemcy, Belgię, Wielką Brytanię, Irlandię, Francję, Hiszpanię i Portugalię) i wyniosła 65 tys. km. (40 tys. mil). Matka Boża odwiedziła 75 katedr, 73 wielkie sanktuaria (w tym Lourdes i Fatimę), ok. 50 cerkwi prawosławnych oraz niezliczoną liczbę parafii katolickich. Zatrzymywała się także na rynkach wielu miast, w szpitalach, więzieniach, schroniskach dla kobiet w ciąży kryzysowej, hospicjach oraz z modlitwą pod klinikami aborcyjnymi. Maryja pokazuje głęboką wiarę współczesnych ludzi, korzenie chrześcijańskiej kultury oraz wielkie zagrożenie atakiem cywilizacji śmierci. Pochyla się nad każdym cierpiącym, leczy poranienie współczesnych ludzi i prowadzi ich do Swojego Syna, Jezusa Chrystusa.  

Od 24 sierpnia 2013 r. Czarna Madonna wędruje po Ameryce Północnej. Przejechała już ponad 35 tys. km (22 tys. mil). Pielgrzymkę koordynuje Human Life International.  Zbliża się Jej wizyta w Chicago, która została objęta patronatem ks. Kardynała Francis George’a, Arcybiskupa Chicago. Koordynatorem na te dni jest Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Fundacji Jana Pawla II w Chicago. Więcej informacji po polsku www.odoceanudooceanu.pl

For Children: a pre-Baptism class is required for Baptism of the first child. Classes are held in English on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30PM in the Church, and in Polish on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:30PM in the Church.
