Hope

ASHA, Irvine gives hope to start the HARIKSHA Learning Centre for the Special Need Children for the underprivileged Mentally Retarded / Cerebrally Palsied children living in the interior corners of Melmalayanoor Block, Villupuram District.

The great idea of Asha for Education is to catalyze the socio-economic through education. Apart from the main objective to provide education to underprivileged children, one of the great objective of Asha is to address, whenever possible, other issues affecting human life such as health care, environment, socio-economic aspects

With the great support of ASHA for Education, Irvine, Hariksha Learning Center focuses on providing basic developmental skills in hygiene, motor skills, physical therapy, special education and other kinds of therapy as appropriate, to children with special need (Cerebrally Palsied / Mentally Retarded), which helps the children to be a valuable to the family & community. Further, the learning center helps its children in obtaining eligible benefits from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

All the way the support of Asha makes bright changes in the lives of the underprivileged, disadvantaged, special needy children. Recently crisis knocked the door in the form of lack of volunteer support to Asha for Education, Irvine. The situation forces Asha for Education, Irvine not able to commit for the further support for Hariksha Learning Centre, complete activities.

With available resources and we are exploring the possibilities at the maximum level to find the alternate resources to substitute the crisis.

We express you to share this information to your friends, relatives, colleagues all the well wishers and the philanthropists to extend their support to overcome the crisis situation.

7+/0$8#.%0+!#90:.!;#68*'(!!Padmesh 4 years old boy child from Avaloorpet village. He got admitted in our Learning centre on 8th January 2014. The boy is from Avaloorpet village,

The birth history of this child is normal. During his childhood he got affected with heavy fever which cause speech impairment, he also got difficulty to swallow the food.

The four month special therapy intervention makes the boy improvement in his speech, he can swallow the food. We felt the improvement of the child, the parents feel very happy towards the improvement of the child.

The parent / teachers and staff team members consultative meeting took place on Saturday, 5th April.

In this consultative meeting 23 parents relatives are actively participated.

In this review meeting the parents are expressed the information about their children development. The need for their children, the requirements from the management, the technical and other assistance from Hariksha Learning Centre are discussed.

The information about the Speech Therapist from France is shared with the parents.

The discussion were made with the parents about the regularity / difficulties of the maintenance grant from the Government were discussed.

1.#//!!The staff team members review meeting took place on Monday, 7th April 2014. During this meeting we were discussed about the following information

The staff team members are instructed to follow up the proceeding to obtain the Food Grant from the Government

The need of the Physiotherapist are discussed, the staff team members are shared with the information to find out and opt the therapist to serve the children

The staff team are provided with the instruction that they have to complete the evaluation report of all the children before 30th of April.

The driver is instructed to take necessary steps to maintain the school van, diesel concession, log book mainteanance, the driver and staff team is advise to utilize the school van to the optimum level.

Instructed to the driver to take the necessary steps for the Annual Vehicle Fitness Certificate, (the annual maintenance works, tinkering works, painting works, etc.,)

Approach to the Regional Revenue Divisional Office towards the Vehicle Annual Fitness Certificate and Road Tax purpose.

The Cow maintenance person is instructed to take care of the cows and calves with clean and tidy, advised to find out the straw (paddy grass) for the cow feed.

The team members are informed to take necessary steps for the annual maintenance of the building

The cow shed is equiped with fan, tublight inside the shed and bulbs are made in the outside of the cow shed on 8th April 2014.

Due to the bad country roads the school van suspension is got damage very often. This month again the suspension plate got damaged, repair works are made, the vehicle made ready to use and operating its daily work.

During April month the parents / relatives are contributed totally Rs. 1900/- (one thousands Nine Hundreds) towards the vehicle running and maintenance expenses.

1:88*$!"04%6#='!!Due to the severity of the hot summer the Hariksha Learning Centre is announced with annual summer holidays from 1st May to 2nd June 2014. The Learning Centre will be re-open on 3rd June 2014.

! ! >#%+90?!)%/*!-(%46$*+!"08*!@%'.$%3.!103%#4!A*4/#$*!B//%3*$!C%'%.!We received a strong letter from the District Social Welfare Officer stating that our children home is not registered under Juvenile Justice Act. Due to this why not she can recommend the District Collector to take necessary action to this Children Home.

Immediately we draft an answer towards this letter stating that three years before we obtain all the necessary certificates and documents from the Government Departments and applied to the Government for Registration for last three years. And now we are starting to renew those documents from the Government.

Building Structural Soundness Certificate from the Licensed Engineer, Sanitary Certificate from Health Department (stating that the hygene condition, sanitation, disposal of the waste water, disposal of the wastages, toilet bathroom conditions, kitchen cleanliness, hygienic measures for the girl children are proper), No Objection Certificate from Fire Officer (stating that the building is equipped with necessary fire fighting equipments, needed information and training is taught to the children if fire accident happen how to protect themselves), Building License from the Thasildhar (Sub collector) that the building is safe, equipped and suitable place for the children home.

As soon as the District Social Welfare Officer Mrs. Umaiyal received our letter she made visit to our children home, The District Social Welfare Officer shall be direct supervisory officers in respect of all the homes / institutions and shall be responsible for their overall program implementation and management. Under program, the District Social Welfare Officer shall ensure that programming components like physical and medical care of the inmates, their boarding and lodging, health, education, recreation, cultural activities, vocational training, rehabilitation, are implemented properly and timely. Under management, the District Social Welfare Officer shall ensure the efficient and effective management of personnel, estate, sanitation, security, stores, accounts and finances.

Apart from this, at present - the District Social Welfare Officer is the authority to recommend the children home to the Government for registration under Juvenile Justice Act. We submitted the renewal application to District Social Welfare Officer along with the counter signature of the District Child Protection Officer with the recommendation of the District Collector.

@%'.$%3.!-(%46!;$0.*3.%0+!B//%3*$!C%'%.!District Child Protection Officer Mr. Thirumavalvan made the inspection visit on 24th March. He verified our entire infrastructure.

>*D*+:*!7+'2*3.0$!C%'%.!To ratify our application towards FORM D (Building license) the Tiruvannamalai Town Revenue Inspector made visit and issued the required certificate Building License on 30th April 2014.

1.#//!7+/0$8#.%0+!!Ms. A. Anjugam is appointed as a cook for Rainbow Life Children Home on 3rd April. She is guided to prepare tasty variety food to the children, to keep clean and tidy the kitchen, kitchen articles, provision articles, etc.,

Ms. M. Radha is appointed as a warden for the Girls Home from 12th April. She is provided with adequate information, her role is explained that she has to take care the children with love and affection, should take proper care and welfare of the children, to maintain discipline among the children, to maintain the sanitation and hygene, to implement the daily routine in involvement. Explained that she has to look after the security and safety arrangements of the home and she has to escort the children whenever they go out of the home.

2014. The children are enjoyed the celebration shared their wishes. The children

offered him the handmade greetings, gifts, flower bouquets, and their love and affection. All the children enjoyed the celebration with cakes, sweets.

Due to the multi handling and heavy usage the utensils and kitchen accessories are getting damaged earlier. So this month we exchanged the old damaged utensils, plastic kitchen accessories.

The Reverse Osmosis Water Purifier which supplies the purified drinking water to the children had repair on 8th April. The technician is called and analyzed the defect happened in the water purifier. The necessary spares are changed, now the water purifier is working perfect and supplies the purified drinking water.

B:.%+,!!This month to entertain the children we took the children to the Government Swimming Pool. The children are enjoyed by playing in the water, all the children are enjoyed the water play. The children enjoyed 2 hours in the swimming pool.
