You must specifically install the ODBC driver from the RBMware software installation disk. To do this: Insert the installation disk into the CD drive Run the RBMware setup program from the CD ROM drive Select the RBMware ODBC setup and follow the instructions. 2. Next you must setup the ODBC driver Data Source from the ODBC application located in the Control Panel for each specific database that you wish to extract data from. To do this: From the Start Icon select Settings and then select Control Panel Select the ODBC Driver Data Source (32 bit) From the User DSN tab, click on the Add button to create a new Data source and select the CSI RBM ODBC Driver as shown below. From the setup menu, specify the Data Source (you can name this anything). For each Database you must link each individual data source name to the appropriate database. The host will always be localhost (no space) for a single-user system. (See below example). For networks, consult your IS department for the appropriate server name. RBMware ODBC driver Setup Instructions and

Data Extraction Procedure

1. You must specifically install the ODBC driver from the RBMware software installation disk. To do this:

• Insert the installation disk into the CD drive

• Run the RBMware setup program from the CD ROM drive

• Select the RBMware ODBC setup and follow the instructions.2. Next you must setup the ODBC driver Data Source from the ODBC application located in the Control Panel for each specific database that you

wish to extract data from. To do this:

• From the Start Icon select Settings and then select Control Panel

• Select the ODBC Driver Data Source (32 bit)

• From the User DSN tab, click on the Add button to create a new Data source and select the CSI RBM ODBC Driver as shown below.

From the setup menu, specify the Data Source (you can name this anything). For each Database you must link each individual data source name

3. Now you are ready to extract data. You must have RBMware open for the ODBC data extraction to work! Open RBMware at this time.

4. In Access open or create a new blank file.

• Go to the File menu and select the Get External Data option

• Then select import

• From the import menu, select from the Files of type the ODBC Database. See below.

5. Next the Select Data Source menu will appear.

• From this menu, select the Machine Data Source tab

• From this tab, select the Data Source Name that you created earlier in step #2 and click OK. In this example, the data source name was ODBC Interface

• After selecting this option, you will see all the available data tables and categories from the RBMware database. Below is a list of a few of thetables available. Scroll down and highlight the tables you wish to import.

Importing Data Into Excel

1. In Excel open or create a file.

• Then go to the Data menu, and select Get External Data

• Now select Create a new Query

• From this tab, select the Data Source name that was established under the ODBC data source. After selection of this option, you will then be able to see the available data tables and categories as in the example above. Select the options you wish to import. Note: you cannot

import any raw data values such as spectral or waveforms into Excel.

Importing Raw data using the ODBC Driver

1. Follow the instructions outlined in #1 through #5 in the RBMware ODBC Driver Setup Instructions and Extraction Procedure.

2. In Access at the Import Objects table, select the following raw data value and click ok. (See example below).

• After the query has completed, go to Window and select the Vibspectra Table. This table will look something like the below table.

• In order to process the raw data, scroll over to the OLE Raw Data field. This field will display the text CSI RawData Document.

• Double click on this field. The following display will appear.

• The plot above displays the spectral plot along with the raw data values.

• To extract the raw data values, select the Edit tab and then select the Copy function.

• Open Excel and paste the raw data values into the Excel spreadsheet.

Note: when binary data is brought into Access, the data is not sorted sequentially. Make sure that you sort the data by ascending date

before importing the raw data into the Excel spreadsheet.
