A new era of computing

Previously SugarCRM required the customer to install the middleware manually. Now Sugar can provide complete End to End provisioning, reducing the typical deployment time from 2-3 days to 10 minutes.

Once enabled on IBM PureSystems, the cross public cloud and private deployment options enable The Innovation Group to explore further deployment opportunities in the US market using IBM SmartCloud Enterprise.

Fully automated system deployment enables rapid customer on-boarding which is repeatable and doesn’t force a labor based growth strategy. This allows Kingdee to control its cost while growing their revenue.

IBM PureSystems provides a multi-platform environment that is ideal for Infor's integrated industry suites, with optimised performance managed through a unified management structure.

Together, IBM’s PureFlex platform and Juniper Networks’ QFabric and vGW Virtual Gateway help customers accelerate their cloud computing initiatives by redefining security and application scalability.

IBM's PureFlex System will enable our clients to tune their server and storage infrastructures, matching the various SAP workloads onto an IBM PureFlex optimised system. It promises to be a new way of simplifying the deployment and management of enterprise applications.

ISV Attributes for IBM PureSystems

If the ISV is primarily interested in…Then is a likely candidate for …

• Platform as a Service (PaaS) delivery model• Has applications that run on IBM WebSphere and/or DB2

middleware• Has J2EE / JAVA applications• Has applications focused on workflow / business process

management

PureApplication System

• Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) delivery model• Asking about different hypervisor / virtualisation technology like

KVM, PowerVM• Asking about different operating system specifics like Linux, MS

Windows, AIX, IBM i • Focused on bare-metal performance or asking for very detailed

specifics on CPU type / speed / RAM memory, etc• Has infrastructure applications (firewalls, load balancers, etc)• Industry standard deployments like OVF / virtual appliances

MSP Attributes for IBM PureSystems

If the MSP is primarily interested in…Then is a likely candidate for …

• Providing Platform-as-a-Service / Application-as-a-Service to customers or ISVs

• Quickly deploying applications• Platform with pre-integrated middleware

PureApplication System

• Supporting a mixed environment of Linux, AIX, System i and Microsoft Windows®

• Supporting different hypervisors / virtualisation technology like KVM, PowerVM, VMware

Good candidates for PureFlex System and PureApplication System

• Have applications that are only available on Power or System i and therefore not immediate candidates for PureApplication System

• Heavy dependency of 3rd party competitive middleware (Oracle)

• Middleware / Tools providers who do not leverage IBM middleware

• Want to create an integrated solution that they can sell & own end client relationship

How to enable applications for PureApplication System

Virtual App Pattern (VAP)Enable your web based app using built in

JEE web app pattern directly or create new plug-in to fully customise its user experience.

Web app pattern support limited WAS+DB2 configuration

Highest level of built in expertise in deploying and managing elastic workload.

Virtual System Pattern (VSP)Enable your app using bundled HV

images AND creating script package.More flexible WAS+DB2 configuration,

ISV can also add its own middleware via customised image

Manual implementation of elasticity and limited built in automation.

VSP VAP (Web App) VAP (new plugin)

Customer perceived Simplicity Low High High

Built-in automation Medium High Highest

Workload Elasticity Manual Automatic Automatic

Pattern flexibility High Medium High

Enablement duration 2 - 4 wks 2 wks 8 wks

Application Patterns of Expertise

Virtual Application Pattern Highest level of built in expertise for

deploying and run time management Pattern decides how to deploy

application Web Application and Database as a

Service available Plug-in Developer Kit allows patterns

to be extended or new ones to be created

Virtual System Pattern Flexible with more control given to pattern

creator Pattern specifies how application is

deployed Many best practice patterns available in

system IBM Construction and Composition Tool

allows catalogue of available parts to be added; script packages allow fine control of application deploy and configuration
