Homework▶ All pupils have a homework book to encourage them to

take ownership of their learning and to reinforce learning.

▶ All pupils will have decorated their homework book covers on the theme of their lives and likes.

▶ Homework is set weekly and you will find an overview of all tasks for this half term stuck inside the cover of their book.

▶ We value your support and feedback and have included an evaluation task for you at the end of each half term’s homework.

How you can help your child• Encourage them to read to you. Talk to them about

your favourite books. Choose a book together.• Read to them.• Discuss what they are reading and ask them why they

like or dislike the reading material.• Encourage them to write - anything! It could be a

letter, diary entry, story or poem. Check with them that they have used accurate punctuation, paragraphs and ambitious vocabulary.

Keeping in contact▶ We would like to invite you into the English Department

on the first Saturday of each month. This will provide an opportunity for you to speak to either Miss Harding or Mrs Holdaway and get to know us better.

▶ You will be able to ask questions and discuss your child’s progress.

▶ You can call in with your son or daughter and take a look at their work and classrooms.

▶ Miss Harding will be available on the Cherbourg campus from 11:00 until 1:00 and Mrs Holdaway will be available on the Shakespeare campus from 10:00 – 12:00.

▶ Tea and coffee will be provided.
