Upgrading Active Directory

• Windows Server 2012 requires a Windows Server 2003 forest functional level

• Domain controllers which run Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 can be upgraded. Windows Server 2003 will need to be retired.

• adprep /forestprep and adprep /domainprep– Version that comes with Windows Server 2012 is x64 only.

machines• If you are using differencing disk, be sure to migrate the

base VHD.
