Wortham Villages
Well, the summer is rapidly going by again and I hope you all are having a great summer so far. As you know, we held our annual Pool Opening Party on Saturday (5/3). We had a good turnout on a beautiful day and handed out some great door prizes. We want to say a special thanks to those who donated door prizes; Raising Cane’s, Goode Co. BBQ, AIG, Margo Horton and Joe and Bea Dryden. This event was sponsored by the Wortham Villages Board of Directors and planned/staffed by the members of our Recreational Facilities Committee and some great volunteers.
The Wortham Villages Board/recreational Facilities Committee Members handed out pool tags at the clubhouse in late April. If you were not able to pick up tags at these times, you will need to contact Crest Management and they will provide the tags for a small fee. Only those homeowners in good standing (annual fees paid) will be able to receive tags.

If you use the tennis courts, please make sure to turn off the lights if you are the last one on the courts. It will help us save some money on electricity bills. The Recreational Facilities Committee’s role in the community is to identify any repairs/upgrades needed for our facilities. Some of the work done by this committee in the past has been the renovations to the pool area and the clubhouse, new playground equipment at the pool area, gazebo install, tennis courts and retention pond playground and fields equipment repairs/replacement. We also are always looking for new ways to improve our facilities. We are planning on addressing some more needs at the clubhouse/pool area for this next year. If anyone is interested in joining our committee, please contact me at rick_anderson@efiglobal.com or 281-890-4878.
Have a great summer swim season!

Remember, ALL exterior changes and improvements made to your home or yard [including your fence and roof ] require ARC approval first. Please do not base your home improvement decision on the fact that someone else in the neighborhood has the same improvement. The safest way to ensure compliance is to obtain ARC approval prior to all exterior modifications. Please contact Crest Management to obtain an ARC application or a copy of the community guidelines.

What is Kiwanis? Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no
matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage nearly 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. In addition, Kiwanis members
actively participate in many service projects in their home communities.
Kiwanis members don’t just do service—they have fun. Members make new friends by being part of a club
where they attend meetings and participate in social events. Kiwanis clubs also provide excellent networking opportunities for professionals. Members meet new people from all over their region and the world through service projects, fundraising and attendance at district and international conventions.
Dates: We will meet on July 1, 8, and 15. Join us for lunch, followed by a short, informative program. We welcome your visit and invite you to consider membership in this service oriented organization.
Why join Kiwanis? Kiwanis i s an in te rna t iona l s e r v i ce organization focused on changing the world one child and one community at a time. The Cy-Fair Kiwanis Club of Houston seeks to serve this community through sponsoring Key Clubs for high school students, Builders Clubs for middle school students, and Aktion clubs for adults with disabilities. Also, we sponsor Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops. We provide support to various other organizations in the community that serve children and families.

Neighborhood Watch CornerIn the previous newsletter we reported a burglary on
Magnolia Leaf. The culprits were apprehended in another burglary. The license tag of their car tied them to the May event on Magnolia Leaf.
We are fortunate in having sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. Occasionally sidewalks are blocked by cars parked there. Please be mindful of pedestrians and kids and park cars off the sidewalks.
We need more block captains; some streets have none, and all streets can use more. Please encourage your neighbors to join the watch program. It is a good way to find out what is going on your area, and a good way to meet your neighbors. Duties are minimal, attend a few meetings, help out with National Night Out and pass on infor-mation to your neighbors, either in person or via email.
