In northern Romania, lies the county of Maramures. Here, amidst mountains, hills and depressions are one of the most interesting tourism objects in the country, yet very well kept. Here, people lead their lives as authentically and peacefully as in the old times.

Maramures is one the best kept Europe's secrets, the place where the time hasn't moved for decades, a place where the traditions, the wooden art and the human kindness are well preserved. On this small surface are preserved over 100 wooden churches (8 of them listed on UNESCO list), a natural reserve also protected by UNESCO

ROZAVLEA este una dintre vechile aşezări din Maramureşul istoric, locuită de „dacii liberi” şi de urmaşii lor, din cele mai vechi timpuri. În vremea cnezatelor şi voievodatelor, Rozavlea a făcut parte din cnezatul de vale al Bogdăneştilor, fiind menţionată printre satele stăpânite de Iuga, fratele lui Bogdan, înainte de anul 1353, an în care se dă fiilor lui Iuga, Ştefan şi Ioan. După anul 1424, aşezarea devine centrul domeniilor urmaşilor lui Iuga „possessio Rozalya”

Plopis is one of the seven villages of Şişeşti commune in Maramureş County, Romania.In 2002, the commune had a population of 5479, of whom 99.6% were ethnic Romanians. 55.3% were Romanian Orthodox, 40.7% were Greek-Catholic, and 2.5% were Pentecostal.Plopiş has a Church of the Holy Archangels, built in 1796; it is one of eight Wooden Churches of Maramureş that are listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Iza Valley is a region with enchanting and captivating scenery. Iza is one of the most important rivers in Maramures. The valley collects hundreds of small rivers until it flows into the Tisa River.All along the Iza Valley there are small villages dating back to before the fifteenth century. The Iza Valley is home to villages known for their historical significance and their wooden churches. Rozavlea is a village of more than 4,000 inhabitants on the right bank of the Iza River. The oldest finds are from the Stone Age, although written mentions start from 1353.
