The Thanksgiving formal party given atthe Elks home last evening was a bigsuccess and greatly enjoyed by a finecrowd. The Watertown Military orchestrafurnished the music throughout theevening, with an excellent selection ofpieces. Decorations were in keeping withthe date and season. The dancecommittee of the Elks has this yearinaugurated a new program system whichobliges the gentlemen to keep their ladies'and their own programs. By this methodhubby is prevented from abandoning thedance hall along about the fifth dance fora game of billiards downstairs, andalthough the idea is being variously andsundryly roasted by a few unfortunatehubbies, the chairman of the committee,Walter Stover, has the unanimousapproval of the ladies, and intends tocourageously maintain the system.

A group of pupils from the class of Mrs.Williard MacIntosh gave a recital at herstudio home Friday morning at teno'clock. A thoroughly enjoyable featurewas the violin solo by Miss Knight withher brother, Dwayn, at the piano.Participants were Corinne Albrook,Robert Albrook, Audrey Ching,Jeannette Davey, Margaret Egert,Shirley De Geest, Peggy De Geest,Jacqueline Flug, Colleen Flug, EliseHalvorson, Lucille Johnson, AudreyJohnson, Dwayn Knight, Joan Mielke,Marion Nichols, Barbara Sheafe, CarollRobinson, Helene Robinson,Genevieve Roth, Alta Wendt, BeverlyWay, Mary Wohlheter, and Dona MaeShultz. Piano duets were delightfullypresented by Carol Robinson and DwaynKnight, Peggy De Geest and Shirley DeGeest, Elise Halvorson and MargaretEgert, Marion Nichols and Joan Mielke.

Watertown isthe 6th Taco John's to open in SouthDakota, with others planned in Mitchell,Huron and Brookings. Stop in at TacoJohn's located on Highway 212 featuringthat exciting Mexican food. - B.M.Tollefson, insurance man and realtorhere for the past 31 years, hasannounced his retirement effective Dec.1. Bert, who maintained an office on thesecond floor of the Old Midland Building,was feted at a retirement party by theother firms located on the same floor. Hewas presented a retirement gift by CliffPlowman. Bert has sold his business toEllis Hanson, but will continue to deal infarm real estate on a part-time basis.

The Watertown Jaycees Snow QueenFestival will fill D.D. Miller Auditorium thisweekend when 11 Senior and 10 JuniorSnow Queen contestants compete. Thisis the 30th year for the snow queencontest in Watertown. The senior winnerwill go on to the state contest in Aberdeenand a chance at scholarship money. Inaddition, the snow queen will representWatertown throughout the year as anoutstanding student and citizen.Entertainment will be provided by JanelleAnderson and Jessica Ginger. Also onhand for the ceremony will be last year'ssenior snow queen MichelleSchneekloth and last year's junior snowqueen Joanne Heiden. Senior SnowQueen contestants are: Betsy Schmahl,Julie Raeder, Emy Carlson, JessicaBuckner, Jessica Waba, AndreaSnyder, Betsy Nelson, Erica Wall,Jennifer Reisch, Jennifer Slostad, andElizabeth Misener.
