Workable Ideas towards Conserving Water in Fields

Recharging of Wells – It involves channelizing rain water to your own well. This also improves the water table and can even improve the taste of water

Drip / Sprinkler Irrigation – One of the best approaches to conserve water . Low application rates arrest water from running off from heavier soils or sloping terrain.

Use of Canal, Pond Liners & Chemicals to check Evaporation – Lining of canal and ponds with blue and black PVC sheets of proper gauge stops seepage of water. Spraying chemicals (safe for humans and livestock) on stagnant water checks evaporation by forming a film on the top surface.

Conserving Water at Household Level

Washing technique in kitchen – Wash fruits and vegetables in a vessel of water instead of running water from the tap

Washing technique in kitchen – Soak vessels, pots and pans in a container instead of letting the water run while you clean them.

Disposal of Waste Water – Dispose away waste water resulting from cleaning the house or washing the clothes into the washroom flush instead of draining down the drain or sink.

Gardening – Collect the water you use for rinsing fruits and vegetables, then reuse it to water houseplants

Keep the tap shut when not in use –When you are washing your hands, don't let the water run while you lather with soap. Seems simple to implement, but it is one of the most common ways water is wasted.

Be attentive to Leaks –Listen for dripping faucets and running pipes. Fixing a leak can save 900 litres a month or more.

Washing Machine Ethics –Run your washing machine only when they are full up to capacity with clothes rather than at half or three fourths capacity. You can save up to 1500 liters a month using it judiciously.

For Fish Keepers –When cleaning out fish tanks, give the nutrient-rich water to your plants

Save Rain Water at Home –Collect water from your roof and plan to use it in your backyard or to water your plants at your garden.

Outdoors –Wash your car on the lawn rather than concrete compound or porch. This way you will water your lawn at the same time.

Man may not be able to create water; he can definitely save it !
