BioGeorge Herman "Babe" Ruth, Jr. was an

American baseball outfielder and pitcher who played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1914 to 1935.

Growing upGrowing up Babe was a bit of a trouble

maker. He would skip school and steal from shops and stores. At age seven, Ruth was sent to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys.

Getting signedIn 1914 Babe Ruth was signed to pitch by the

 Baltimore Orioles. At the time the Orioles were a “Minor League” baseball organization.

Going to the MLBHe played with the Orioles for 2 seasons then

was signed by the “Boston Red Sox” in 1916.

1st Season!In Babe’s first season He was a pitcher for

the Boston Red Sox. In his first season he was 2-1, his ERA was 3.91, his ER was 10, he played 4 games, his IP was 23, he gave up 21 hits, he gave up 12 runs, he walked 7 batters, and striked out 3 batters.

No More PitchingBabe was getting tired of pitching because he

had a big talent for hitting. In 1919 he was moved to outfield.

TradedIn 1920 Babe Ruth was traded to the New

York Yankees to play OF. He played with New York for the rest of his career.
