Who has Dollars and Sense?

All students will be able to create holiday cards and sell them to customers by applying their

comprehension skills of how an effective business operates, by using writing strategies

and by incorporating technology skills.

Step One

First we must select a holiday

Select a holiday from the list below for which you would like to create a card. Click on the holiday to read more about it. This information may be helpful when creating your card.

Click on View Cards to view scenes that have been made and sold already in stores. While you are looking at these cards, you must to start thinking of a unique idea for the card that you will be making.

Forming Business Groups

Form a business groups of no more than 5 people. Be sure to select people that you trust and get along with.

These groups indicate a business or a company. Together you must think of…

Business or company name The price of the cards (all cards must be $2.00 or

less) Any sales that will be offered A company logo Materials that will be used to decorate the cards

Create an advertisement using the information agreed upon in

your business group.

Preview a variety of the commercials that were pre-recorded by your teacher.

Write a persuasive speech using the writing process. Be sure to include information that pertains to the product you are selling.

Final drafts can be typed using Microsoft Word. Collaborate with your groups to create a 30 second

commercial, using a combination of their persuasive speeches.

Its time to persuade your audience!

It is now time to tape your commercial! Be sure you have your script ready.

Lights, Camera, Action!

You will have one table to display your product.

You may use any materials your teacher has provided to decorate your area.

Be sure to display your advertisements.

Presentation

Today students from other classes will come to our classroom with $2.00 to spend.

All of the students that enter our classroom will browse through all of the stores in search of their favorite cards and prices.

Then the customers may purchase how ever many cards they want with their money.

If you are working at the stores make sure you are professional and persuasive.
