What is MedlinePlus Go Local?

MedlinePlus created by NLM in 1998

Go Local created by NLM in 2004

Invited medical libraries to submit proposals

Administered by NNLM regions (GMR)

NLM supplies infrastructure (database & vocabulary)

NLM coordinates organization & communication

State projects supply staff, data & promotion

What is Michigan’s Go Local?

2004 – NLM accepted WSU Shiffman Go Local proposal for all of Michigan

2005 – started populating database

w/ 200 HIV records User Friendly Manual (Detroit Community AIDS Library)

2007 – launched “live” 6,600 records2009 – now have 14,100 records

– over 11,00 records audited

Name Change

2005 – selected name “Michigan Go Local” and

created a banner/logo

2009 – added “Health” to name
