The Modify ButtonThe Modify button simplifies the programming process by allowing you to quickly program or edit an object (button, page, Message Window, Tabs, etc.). To modify a button:

Make sure that you are on the communication page or popup you want to modify.Select the green Modify button. The button will turn red to indicate that it is active.Select the button you want to modify.Use the options in the Modify Button menu to change the attributes of the selected item (Hint: The most important attributes of a button are the Label, Symbol, and Behavior).

 Label: Words that appear on the button.Symbol: The picture that will appear on the button.Behavior: The action that will take place when the button is selected. *Hint: Use the Hidden button to temporarily hide items on a page.

To Swap a button:

Select the Blue Main Menu Button. Select Page EditingSelect Swap ButtonSelect the button you would like to move.Then Select the button you would wish to swap it with.

Hiding a Button

To hide a button:

Make sure that you are on the communication page or popup you want to modify.Select the green Modify button. The button will turn red to indicate that it is active.Select the button you want to modify.The Modify Window will pop up. In the bottom on the right side there is a place to select “Hidden” Select Hidden and hit O.K.The button will no longer show up on the screen.

Quick PagesCreate a New Page to add to the “My Words” Folder

To Create New Pages:Select the Main Menu button.Select Page Editing.Select Quick Page. The Select Template menu will appear.Choose a template that matches the layout of your active page set.Choose Select. The system keyboard will appear. Enter the name of your new page and Select OK. Choose Fill from Text.An Enter Label window will be presented and the first button on your page will be highlighted.Select the text box in the Enter Label window to access the system keyboard. Enter the label for the first button and then select OK. If a symbol is associated with the label, it will be added to the button. If more than one symbol is associated with your label, a Select a Symbol menu will open. Select the symbol you would like to use. The selected symbol will be added to the button.Follow the system prompts and the page will automatically be saved using the name you assigned to it. If you want to stop adding content to your communication page, select the Stop Asking button in the Enter Label window.

Linking PagesLink your New Page to “My

Words”

To Link Pages:Go to the button that will become the “Go To” button.Select the green Modify button.Select Behaviors.Select Go to Page.Select Add.The Select Pages menu will appear.In the right viewport, locate the desired page.Select OK.

Record a Sound and Link a Sound to a Button

in the “Talk” Folder

To Record a Sound: Select the Main Menu button in the title bar.Select Setup.Select Tools Menu.Select the Sound Browser button.Select the New button.Use the system keyboard to enter a name for the new sound file.Select the OK button to close the system keyboard.Select the OK button to begin recording. The device will begin to record immediately, so you can begin to speak as soon as you select the button.

Note: The built-in microphone is behind the small hole to the left of the power button. You can also use a standard computer microphone plugged into the mic port on the left side of the unit.Note:  Select the Cancel button to stop recording and delete anything you have recorded so far. You will be returned to the Sound Browser menu. To try the recording again, start over with step 5.

When you are finished, select the OK button. A window will open, providing the following options: Select the OK button to accept the recording, and continue to step 10. Select the Playback button to review the recording. Select the Record Again button to return to step 8 and record your message again.After you have finished recording and selected the OK button, a window may briefly display the message: "Saving, please wait...". The new sound file will be listed in the viewport of the Sound Browser menu.To listen to the new recording, select the name of the sound file in the viewport and then select the Play Sound button.Select the OK button to close the Sound Browser menu.Select the OK button to close the Tools menu.Note: When you create your own custom sounds, they are stored in the Sounds folder inside the User Files folder on your device hard drive. The sound library provided by DynaVox is stored in the Sounds folder inside the Shared folder on your device hard drive

Take /Import A PictureAdd it to the “About Me” Folder

To Import a Picture:Note: This answer assumes that the digital photo files have been copied to the USB storage device, that an external CD drive is attached to the unit to read a CD that has the photos on it and/or that the images have been saved to an Open device (i.e. the C drive).

To Use the Quick Import Feature, follow these steps:Select the green Modify button from the title bar.Select the button that you will import the symbol into.

Select the Symbol button.Select the Quick Import button. If the image is stored on a USB storage device, follow these steps:Select the Show All Directories checkbox.In the left viewport, select the USB drive letter, external CD drive or navigate to the location of the saved photo files.In the right viewport, select the image file to be imported.Select OK.  The system keyboard will be displayed.Enter what you would like the image label to be and select OK.Select OK to exit the Modify Button menu.

 Select the Main Menu button.Select the Set Up button.Select Set Up Menu.Select the User Manager.Select Backing Up the Selected User.Select Yes to saving pictures and emails.Click the box that says Show all Directories.Highlight the flash drive (Please note, it will not be the C Drive)Select the Name box and, and name the user.Hit Ok
