Classroom Teachers

Classroom Teacher Rating Process

A clinical model of supervision will be used to collect evidence for the steps of the observation process.

PA ETEP will be used to document the observation.

Formal Observation

Differentiated Supervision will be started in 2015-2016.

Differentiated Supervision is optional. Eligible teachers

◦ Tenured teachers who have received a “Satisfactory” rating in the last two years

Non Eligible teachers◦ Non-tenured teachers◦ Teachers who are new to a building or grade level

for the first year

Differentiated Supervision

Teachers will be in a three-year cycle. ◦ 2015-2016 Differentiated Supervision◦ 2016-2017 Differentiated Supervision◦ 2017-2018 Formal Observation

Teachers can opt in the cycle next year or opt out if necessary.

Principals may remove a teacher from Differentiated Supervision.

Teachers will collect evidence listed in the plan in a portfolio.

PA ETEP will be used to document the plan.

Differentiated Supervision

There are three Differentiated Modes ◦ Peer Coaching Mode◦ Self-Directed Model/Action Research Mode◦ Portfolio Mode

The teacher chooses one mode to do for the year.

PA ETEP includes an “Other” option. Teachers working in groups need to submit

a plan for each teacher.

Benefits ◦ Experience, effectiveness, and professionalism of

teachers are recognized.◦ Teachers develop a plan for professional

development unique to their needs and interests.◦ Teachers work collaboratively for professional

development and feedback of goals.◦ Teachers are empowered to work on District

initiatives.

Differentiated Supervision

Peer Coaching Mode◦ Teachers work in dyads or triads.◦ Discuss and observe pedagogy, student learning,

curriculum in a collaborative manner.◦ Teachers define professional needs and plans. ◦ Evidence may include meeting notes, data,

results of observations, and reflections.

Differentiated Supervision

Self-Directed Model/Action Research Mode◦ Teachers may work individually or in dyads or

triads. ◦ Teachers develop a structured, ongoing reflection

of a practice-related issue.◦ Teachers complete an action research project. ◦ Evidence may include meeting notes, data,

results of observations, and reflections.

Differentiated Supervision

Portfolio Mode◦ Teachers will examine their own practice in

relation to the Danielson Framework for Teaching ◦ Teachers will reflect in a written report or

documented discussion/presentations with other teachers.

◦ Portfolios may be developed based on criteria agreed upon with the teacher and principal.

◦ Evidence may include meeting notes, data, results of observations, and reflections.

Differentiated Supervision

The current evaluation form 82-3 will be used with Specialists and Licensed Professionals/NTPE:◦Nurse◦Guidance Counselor◦School Psychologist◦Instructional Coach◦Dental Hygienist ◦Transition Coordinator◦Speech Therapist◦Secondary Librarians

Non-Teaching Professional Employees

NTPE Rating Form 82-3 includes two sets of data◦ Observation/Evidence◦ SPP Score

NTPE will use PA ETEP to develop one goal and document evidence.

Evidence will be collected in a portfolio organized by domains.
