Evaporare, condensare, precipitare e scorrere, l’acqua memoria; l’acqua si muove in continuazione. È fonte e origine della vita e diventa in molte cosmogonie antiche il mito sull’origine acquatica del cosmo. La ritroviamo in leggende della mitologia indiana, assiro e babilonese, greca, egizia, cristiana, induista, islamica. Si legge in Eraclito “dalla terra nasce l’acqua, dall’acqua nasce l’anima…”. L’origine acquatica della vita è stata da sempre riconosciuta da tutte le culture che hanno popolato la terra. Acqua è il liquido amniotico in cui si sviluppa il feto, è la pioggia che cade sui campi, è la fonte che disseta. L’acqua purifica il corpo da malattie e umori nocivi, permette gli scambi e i commerci che si svolgono sul mare. In tutti questi aspetti la simbologia legata all’acqua ha dato vita a un ricco e variegato mondo immaginifico popolato di divinità, miti, leggende, luoghi sacri e figure misteriose che incarnano di volta in volta gli aspetti particolari di questo elemento e la sua centralità nella vita dell’uomo. In tutte le cosmogonie antiche è l’acqua che dà origine al mondo, spesso con la prevalenza del fattore femminile a sottolineare la fecondità dell’acqua stessa. L’acqua è anche simbolo di purezza e di rinascita spirituale liberando l’anima dalle macchie terrene, così come purifica il corpo liberandolo da infezioni e malattie. Non a caso il battesimo cristiano è l’emblema della purificazione dell’anima. L’acqua è infine simbolo di fertilità, elemento indispensabile al sostentamento e al nutrimento. Sono nate così le divinità del mare, di fonti, laghi e fiumi che gli uomini hanno pregato e pregano, e a cui fanno sacrifici per propiziarsi prosperità e nutrimento. In questi lavori i corpi umani raccontano, attraverso l’interazione con l’acqua, storie di personaggi della mitologia di civiltà antiche. Le opere nascono dalla fotografia e vengono sviluppate con elaborazioni digitali.

We find it in the legends of Indian, Babylonian, Assyrian and Greek, Egyptian, Christian, Hindu, Islam mythology. Heraclitus wrote “...from the Earth comes water, from the water comes soul ... “. The aquatic origin of life has always been recognized by all cultures that have populated the Earth. Water is the amniotic fluid in which the fetus develops, the rain that falls on the fields, it is the source that quenches thirst. Water purifies the body from harmful diseases and sad humorism, it allows exchanges and trades that take place on the sea. In all these aspects the symbolism related to the water gave birth to a rich and varied world, richly populated with gods, myths, legends, sacred places and mysterious figures that embody from time to time the special aspects of this item and its centrality in the life of man. In all the ancient cosmogonies is the water that gives rise to the world, often with the prevalence of female factor to emphasize the fruitfulness of the water itself. Water is also a symbol of purity and spiritual rebirth, freeing the soul from earthly stains, as well as cleansing freeing him from infection and disease. Not surprisingly the Christian baptism is the emblem of the purification of the soul. Water is a symbol of fertility, indispensable to the sustenance and nourishment. So it was born the goddess of the sea, sources, rivers and lakes that humans have prayed and prayed, and to make sacrifices to propitiate prosperity and nourishment.
