Art 1 - Optical Illusions

Objective/Learning Target: We will start our own cone and sphere optical illusion.

What you’ll need

✘ Blank paper

✘ Pencil

✘ 3 circular items. Such as lids or small

plates.

✘ Ruler or something with a straight edge.

I used 2 lids and a small bowl to create my circles on

my paper.

You will also need to make a dot where you’ll be drawing

your straight lines to.

The next step is to make straight lines that go through

that dot that you made.

- Make sure the lines go through the dot, complete from one side of the page to the other.

- You’ll need to make sure you have an even amount of spaces. I have 16 “cones” in my drawing. Try to have at least 14.

- Make sure to “skip” around the circles. Pretend that the circles are on top of the lines. There should be no lines on the circles...yet.

If you have a sharpie or black marker you can trace

your pencil lines.

- Make sure you use your ruler while going over your pencil marks and use your circle objects again. Neatness is key!

- Erase any pencil marks after you’ve finished tracing with Sharpie/marker.
