The Museum of American Finance, an affi liate of the Smithsonian Institution, is the nation’s only public museum dedicated to money, fi nance and entrepreneurship.
It occupies the former home of the Bank of New York, founded by Alexander Hamilton in 1784, and offers fi ve permanent interactive exhibits. Items on display include ticker tape from the Crash of 1929, the earliest photograph of Wall Street, paper money, coins, gold bars, and documents and artifacts tracing the development of the fi nancial markets.
