The Get FIT program is a fitness and nutrition program for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This program helps people with IDD and their caregivers to become healthier together. They focus on exercising and eating a healthier diet. Get FIT is striving to reduce the risk of Metabolic Syndrome which could eventually cause problems and
lead to diabetes or CVD. This program provides student volunteers the experience they need and they get to
work with people with IDD. This will get health and social service sectors to pay attention to this program and people with IDD.
