The NSD7800 is equipped with several indicators. The description of
these indicators is as follows.
Hard disk activity indicator Each hard disk tray has an independent hard disk activity indicator. This
indicator lights up whenever the hard disk is in use.
Hard disk status indicator Each hard disk tray has two LED status indicators: red and green. The
recommended configuration is to use the red indicator if the hard disk is
not functioning properly and the green indicator if the hard disk is
functioning normally.
System power indicator The system power indicator lights up whenever the system is powered
on.
System hard disk activity indicator The system hard disk activity indicator lights up whenever any hard disk
activity within the system is detected.
Network activity indicator The network activity indicator lights up whenever any data is being
transmitted through the LAN port.

Hard disk tray There are a total of eight hard disk trays in the system. Each tray can
support one 3.5 inch SATA hard disk. SATA (300 Mbps) or SATA (150
Mbps) may be used in the system. However it is recommended that all
eight hard drives used in the system have identical specifications.
Power button The power button is located on the front panel. When the power supply
is properly connected, pressing on the power button with activate the
system.
Recovery button The recovery button is located just beneath the system power indicator.
The button is intentionally designed with small dimensions and recessed
into the front panel to prevent accidentally initiating the recovery
process.
Power supply The power supply used in the system is a standard 300 Watt ATX power
supply.

Slide the hard drive into the tray.

hard drive. Fasten the hard drive to the tray with four M3*4L screws.

from the label. Then apply the label to the chassis.
The included VIA label is 25.6 mm (width) by 25.6 mm (height) by 0.5
mm (depth).

The NSD7800 comes with a recovery button on the exterior of the
chassis. When the recovery button on the NSD7800 is pressed, the
system will be reset and all other boot priorities will be overridden at
that time.
For example, if a SATA HDD has been set as the first boot device in the
hard drive boot priority list, the bootable recovery device (e.g., USB, CF,
etc) will boot instead when the recovery procedure has been triggered.
Currently, the NSD7800 BIOS supports the following types of bootable
recovery devices:
• USB HDD (USB pen drive is included)
• DOM (Disk On Module)
• CF (Compact Flash) Card
After the recovery procedure has been completed, the system will return
to the normal boot sequence.

In order for the system recovery process to function, the BIOS must have
the appropriate settings. The BIOS settings can be changed using the

such as a ball-point pen or paperclip is recommended due to the small

to function. Each hard drive bay has one status indicator and one activity
indicator. The activity indicator does not need to be programmed to
function.
The hard drive status indicator has four options: red, green, orange, or
nothing. These LED lights are controlled using the onboard Winbond
W83697HG SuperIO GPIO.
