TVNA: What Is It?
• The only comprehensive, unedited collection of network news broadcasts (ABC, CBS, CNN,NBC) since 1968
• In-depth indexing and abstracting of each broadcast, including advertisements
• Offers unedited access to all content• No networks offer this service at TVNA rates• Index and abstracts available within ~3 days
after broadcast
TVNA: Video• All material is watermarked • CNN online video becoming
available January 2004• Tapes available for local viewing
and loan at cost– Offer direct copies or compilations– Usual turnaround: 2 weeks– Liberal loan policies for tapes– Must return tapes after loan– Cannot use tapes for commercial
purposes or for broadcast
Current Use of TVNA
• Collection is used by researchers, private individuals, corporations, and not-for-profits
• 9,000 registered users since August 2002• Database use: over 75,000 hits per month• Heaviest use:
– Academic community: 2,873 users– Individuals: 2,503 users– K-12 community: 1,104 users

Consortium Discount Qualifications
• Consortial purchasing available internationally
• There must be a real consortium (i.e., at least two institutions)
• The consortium must aggregate sales of at least 15,000 FTE
Consortium Service Requirements
• The consortium must be the sole invoicing & payment agent
• The consortium must provide all required subscription information
• Deposit accounts available for libraries to order copies of tape loans
• Service will commence after full payment has been received
• Subscriber licenses not yet available, but will follow standard consortium practice
