I was born in December 1990 in Ankara, Turkey.

I decided to study product design having a deep

interest in User Centered Design Studies.

In 18 December 2015, I graduated from my Master’s

Degree at Scuola Politecnica di Design in

Milan with the scholarship of Turkish Ministry of

Economy after getting 1st prize at an automotive component design competition in ergonomics

category.

Combining the technical background I gained

from my bachelor’s degree and the Italian perspective of design I observed during my time

here, I believe I have just the right experience to

move onto my professional life as a young designer.

Doppia Natura

A plate heater for the center of the table designed for bringing people together during the dinner while creating a warm and welcoming mood. Project is done as a group work with Zeina Nassar and Romain Laroche.

In collabration with

Tutor: Valerio Sommela

Concept

We took our inspiration from fire which fascinated the human beings through ages. It made us what we are now. It protected us and it enabled us master the materials. So when we were expected to design an object related with food, fire was the true inspiration for us.

In this project, fire gatheres the people around food once more as it did to our early ancestors in history.

Product Details

As the product was not aimed to be stored away and forgotten after a few usages, the user can remove the candle plugs and lava stone plate, then use it as a fruit basket on their tables.

A family of products aiming to bring Sicilian gardens into our urban city lives. Urban Green consists of three different elements as the stool and low table, wall planters and the bird feeder. The company produces lavastone and ceramic tiles and boards. Project is done as a group work with Bengü Demircioğlu and Breno Fuzette.

Stools and low table. Structures are made from tubular steel. Plates are made from lavastone and decorated with Made a Mano patterns. Stools can also be used as container for users’ gardening tools.

Stools & Low Table

When we looked at the Sicilian lifestyle, where Made a Mano was born, the people are gathering around low tables and socializing in green areas. This was our main inspiration when we are asked to design outdoor products for the Sicilian company.

Inspiration

Wall planters are made from white glazed ceramic with colored stripes and distinctive Made a Mano patterns on them. They were designed as two sizes and can be also used as a container for the user.

Wall Planters

As we live in a concrete jungle in cities where almost every building is grey and dull, we were thrilled to bring “green” in our lives. Having a vertical garden in our terraces and balconies was meaningful for us, as the user’s concrete wall was becoming “green” with the wall planters.

Inspiration

The last element of our project is the bird feeder which we thought it will bring the user one step closer to the nature. The structure is made from steel tubes and an aluminium plate with lavastone board on it, hanged through a steel thread.

The height is adjustable as there are silicon parts inside the vertical tube, which makes the adjustment easier for the user. The overall system is balanced with the weight of a cylindrical lavastone at the very bottom of the thread.

Bird Feeder

IDENTITATwo bottles designed for bringing back the identity and value of Veneto Prosecco as well as helping it get one step further among its competitors in the market. Project is done as a group work with Bengü Demircioğlu and Breno Fuzetti.

In collaboration with

Tutor: Marco Merendi

Inspired by the vineyards in Veneto and interaction between human and the grapes we thought these features were the key distinction and the identity of Veneto Prosecco.

Conventio WingOur brief was to redesign one of the existing chairs of the scandinavian business seating company. The main problem with the chair was that the client did not find it aesthetically pleasing although the mechanism worked perfectly well for the ergonomy. Project is done as a group work with Spyridoula Mantousi and Bengü Demircioğlu.

Tutor: Ilkka Suppanen

Concept

Our inspiration was to achive the Scandinavian style with more of an organic form that could actually follow the human body’s curves.

Product Details

By the use of only one material, polyurethane foam -proccesed differently- we can get the possibility of a flexible seating unit that provides movability.

Aluminium gives durability while being lightweight.

Product Details

As the existing mechanism was working perfectly well for the ergonomics, we wanted to adapt it to our new design. Now it became less bulky and all of the parts can be assembled together with only two screws.

Product Details

The chair is stackable and linked together in a conference room with or without the armrests.

MySpace (workshop)

MySpace is a stool for interior public spaces especially for airport halls.

Based on the works of the anthropologist Edward T. Hall, MySpace aims to help the users arrange their personal space while resting even in crowded places like airports.

Project is done as a group work with Giulio Tomasi.

A Marble StudyHaving a deep interest in raw materials, me and my colleage Mete İçenler developed three different products made from marble just to explore the material thouroughly.

February-April 2016

A Tribute toCastiglioniA lighting unit inspired by Castiglioni’s famous Parentesi lamp.

Product Details

As seen in the section view; the axis of the wire goes through the marble piece’s center of weight. Thus, the friction happening inside the marble ensures that the lamps stay at the desired height.

Material Choice

While the main material is chosen as marble, we decided to have a reflective surface for the light distribution. As a consequence, brass and copper were chosen to accompany marble.

Cylindrical Weight:

Made from marble and weights around 2.5kg. Because it’s heavier than the lamps, it balances them with the friction it creates.

ZenA bathroom stand to be used next to the bathtubs. Zen was born out of the need to store and reach personal belongings during the bathroom experience.

Material Choice

When we first decided to use marble in our study, we instantly realized that marble was a great material to be used in bathrooms. There we also have bronze, both of them having strong connection to the historical Turkish baths called “Hamam”.

Product Details

The second tube going as a branch can revolve 360 degrees around the main tube’s axis, allowing the user to reach his/her belongings in an easier way.

With its weight, marble base provides balance to the bronze tube attached on it.

Earlier Works

Bachelor’s Degree

Three of my works belonging to the last year of my Bachelor’s Degree showing more technical side of my education.

EvolutionEvolution is a backhoe-loader cabin creating a smooth experience for the operator acting like a single body with the backhoe-loader. The idea behind Evolution is to let the user control the cabin environment like his limb and to give the feeling to the operator that he is in charge.

The projects is given to us in 2013 at Middle East Technical University Department of Industrial Design as a group work with Mete İçenler, Çiğdem Demir and Hatice İçer.

In collabration with

1st Prize

Seating Unit

Awarded as a 1st prize in ergonomics category, the backhoe-loader seat enables the user to be fully in charge the overall cabin environment.

Storage Unit

Enables the user to store his belongings away from the dusty environment.

Electrochromatic Glasses

It is crucial for the driver to be able to use the cabin in both day and night shifts without being distracted from the sunlight. Electrochromatic glasses can change its color depending on the daytime.

Anthromopetric Relations

Each element of the interior cabin can be accessed by the user without having to stand up from the seating unit.

Interface

Interface of the control panel is designed mainly for keeping the user focused. As they work 8-9 hours of shifts, it was essential to not to distract the driver with unnecessary and ‘hard-to-read- information. Colors of the digital interface also changes from day to night.

Web

Web is a playground equipment suitable for children aged 8-12. The main goal of Web is to develop children’s motor skills by encouraging them to stretch the elastic parts of it. By doing so, they can observe and learn how they can transform the objects around them.

Web is a creative playground equipment enabling the children to test their limits both physically and mentally.

The projects is given in 2013 at Middle East Technical University Department of Industrial Design as a part of design lab course.

In collabration with

Developed Motor Skills

By stretching, hanging, climbing and jumping from Web’s parts, children can develop their physical skills in a healthy way while discovering the playground equipment as playing in a huge web.

Usages

Web can also be used as units when connected together forming a labyrinth and endless options of playground possibilities.

Material Choice

After a long search on thermoplastic elastomers, material of elastic bands are chosen as Hytrel as it has the elasticity for the children to stretch it but also has enough density to carry them and avoid hurting each other.

Vivo

Vivo is a survival kit for earthquake victims during and after the few hours of the disaster. It aims to increase the chances of survival when earthquake occurs, by preparig the user, warning and guiding them in advance and meeting their basic survival needs.
