LigHtEning bug• They’re actually not flies—they’re
beetles and like all other beetles, they have strong forewings. Fireflies use the forewings—also called elytra—for balance.
• A firefly’s glow is a chemical reaction which makes them light up and shiny
• In some places still, fireflies flash together.
• A few firefly species are also carnivorous as adults. They don’t eat snails, they eat fireflies of other kinds.
• Their light is the most efficient light in the world. Nearly hundred percent of the energy in the chemical reaction is given as light.
• As a larva, they eat earthworms, snails and slugs. As an adult, they eat pollen or other insects.

• The average life time of a dog is around 10 to 14 years
• The very first animal to go to space was a dog; a Russian dog named Laika who travelled in the spacecraft Sputnik around the earth in 1957.
• Dogs cannot eat raisins, grapes, onions, chocolates or garlic because it makes them very sick.
• A dog’s nose print is very different, and similar to human fingerprints.

average of 13 to14 hours a day.• Cats have powerful night vision,
allowing them to see at light levels six times lower than what a human needs in order to see.
• Older cats can at times act angrily towards kittens.
• On average cats live for around 12 to 15 years.
• Cats spend a large amount of time licking their coats to keep them clean.
• Cats do not have a strong collarbone like many mammals. This is why they are able to
squeeze through small spaces.
