Transportation TODAY: Richmond’s historic urban street network supports people-centered access. Suburban areas of Richmond lack an interconnected street grid. The bike network is not interconnected. Sidewalks are insuenct in many parts of the city. The Greater Richmond Transit Company revamped the bus network and ridership in 2019 has increased 25% compared to 2018. However, GRTC operates only one highly-frequent bus service, and no busses are 24-hr.Single occupancy vehicle trips continue to be the prefered commuting mode – 77% of working Richmonders drove alone to work in 2016.
