City PalaceThe City Palace stands

on the eastern bank of the Lake Pichola.

It is a massive series of palaces built at different times beginning from 1559.

The various palaces like Dilkhush mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Moti Mahal and Krishna vilas were built in the memory of a princess of great beauty who committed suicide by taking poison to avert a bloody battle for her hand by rival princes.

Lake PalaceThe Lake Palace was built in 1743 – 1746.

This marble construction is situated on the Jag Niwas Island in Lake Pichola.

Originally built as a royal summer palace, it is now a luxury 5-star hotel.

Jag Mandir

Jag Mandir is an island in Lake Pichola. It is famous for its garden courtyard.

Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan took refuge here while he revolted against his father.

Although, it was originally built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1678, but after facing much destruction due to heavy rains, it was reconstructed and extended by Maharana Fateh Singh.

Lake Pichola

Lake Pichola is a 4 km long and 3 km wide artificial lake built by Maharana Udai Singh II.

There are a number of Ghats and from the City Palace of Udaipur there are boats to take you there.

In the middle of the lake stands the Lake Palace, which has now been converted into a heritage palace hotel.

Saheliyon-ki-BariThe Saheliyon-ki-Bari was

created for a group of eight young women attendants of a princess of Udaipur as a part of her dowry.

The garden is situated below the embankment of the Fateh Sagar Lake and is made stunning with lotus pools, elephant shaped fountains and marble pavilions.

The fountains are fed by the lake waters.

Bagore-ki-Haveli

This is an ancient building situated on the waterfront of Lake Pichola on the Gangori Ghat.

This haveli is now famous for staging Rajasthani traditional dance and music.

Shilpagram

It is a craft village located at the Northwest of Udaipur.

It annually holds one of the biggest crafts fair in India.

People from different states of India flock here to showcase their art and craft work.
