• Purpose of this text is to make reader understand about a phenomena.

Structure

• General Statement• Sequence of explanation• Closing

General Statement

• The first part is a general statement explanatory text or also called a general statement. This section provides the topics or issues to be discussed at explanation text in the form of a general overview of how and why such a phenomenon could occur. General This statement should be written as attractive as possible so that the reader may be interested to read the contents of the text as a whole.

Sequence of Explanation

• This section contains an explanation - explanation of a topic that will be discussed in more depth. This section was written to answer the question how, how and why the order - the result of a phenomenon that occurs. This section is usually written in two or three paragraphs.

Closing

• The last part of the text explanation is closing that contain the essence or the conclusion of a phenomenon that has been discussed. In this section can also be added to any suggestions or feedback is also the author of the phenomenon.

How Does Earthquake Happen?

General Statement :Earthquake is one of the most destroying natural disasters. Unluckily it often happens in several regions. Recently a horrible earthquake has shaken West Sumatra. It has brought great damages. Why did it occur? Do you know how an earthquake happens?Sequence of Explanation :Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves. It make the ground shake. When two two plates of rock are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. They don't just slide smoothly. The rocks are still pushing against each other, but not moving. Closing :After a while, the rock plates break because of all the pressure that's built up. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs.
