A few months back I heard the most inspiring conversation about collaboration and working together and ... tinkering. If you can, have a listen http://www.abc.net.au/rn/bydesign/stories/2011/3147776.htm Also, note that I'm making a brand new powerpoint and I have zero images for it. I'd like to consider this something that parallels the podcast. Suggestions are most welcome. That said, it makes the most sense if you've heard the audio! I'll be making a number of updates. Suggestions are most welcome. More about tinkering on the Planeta Wiki http://planeta.wikispaces.com/tinker

Nudge

Our skills have a 5-Year Half-Life

At any age we have to be ready to pick up

brand new skills

Back to the Future

What’s Old is New Again

The One Room Schoolhouse allows us to learn with and

from each other

The teacher becomes the orchestrator

Students teach each other

20th century model suited the industrial

age, a more linear age

Today’s world is not linear.

Today’s world is highly unpredictable

Our identity involves participating in a networked public

Kids learn from each other … Why can’t we create a global version of that?

How do we make the networked world

share the attributes of the one-room

schoolhouse?

Today we create our identity by what we create, share what

other people build on

I am what I make and other people

can build on

Listen with humility

Interpret the backtalk

of the situation

Argue productively with each other

Give generous critiques

Hold multiple points of view

Like a MC Escher painting, we are

standing on each other’s shoulders.
