An eternity of thanksgiving

and still the world would turn and turn into new beginnings,

new beauty, new wonder.

There can be no end to gratitude,

to hearts stilled

in amazement,

to breath stopped by wonder,

to minds sparked by possibility.

But we – whose hearts beat in staid, sedate and steady rhythm,

whose breath is measured, unengaged, u

whose minds are numbed by the length of our days –

we could starve for lack of inspiration.

May we feel the rush of time

before us

approaching with

a fierce, irreversible zeal.

May we boldly open our arms,

stand naked before

its turbulent

truth,

and know that it is all we ever have to lose.

Then, with hearts caught in wonder, grace, and gratitude,

may we dance in time’s

furious passing

and learn to love

the dance.
