After receiving a superior rating at the OSSA Regional marching competition in Lawton last year, this year’s Tiger marching band had a tough act to follow. Under the guidance of directors Jim Meiller and Joel Deardorf and drum majors James Ross and Tom Seivers, band members began rehearsing in Au-gust. During the August band camp, the pre-game performance and opening movement of the half-time and competition show were learned. Pre- game consists of the band marching out on to the !eld, playing NHS !ght, the National Anthem and marching o" of the !eld to “Eye of the Tiger.” The theme of

this year’s show was “Escape,” and consisted of music written by deceased Russian composer. Rehearsals continued throughout the beginning of the school year during an extended version of zero hour. After a rough start and earning the 11 place spot at the Mustang Invitational marching contest, band students preserved and improved. They later earned seventh place spot at the Putnam City marching contest, and improved even more to earn a superior rating, the highest available, at the OSSA regional contest.
