Welcome to Worship

Exodus 20:8-11

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your

work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.

.

Exodus 20:8-11

On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any

foreigner residing in your towns.

.

Exodus 20:8-11

For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but

he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Offertory

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV)

7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under

compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Communion

Isaiah 53:2-3 (NIV)

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us

to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide

their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Fourth Commandment

Remember that this is the Only Commandment Not Repeated in the

New Testament.

Galatians 4:9-10

But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you

are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be

enslaved by them all over again? You are observing special days and months

and seasons and years!

Romans 14:5-6

One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day

alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats

meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the

Lord and gives thanks to God.

Colossians 2:16, 17

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard

to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are

a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in

Christ.

Fourth Commandment

We voluntarily observe Sunday because Jesus rose on the first day of the week.

Genesis 2:1-3

By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the

seventh day he rested from all his work. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all

the work of creating he had done.”
