Conver7ng from internet file to PDF
• Should always save files as PDF. • On a Mac or newer PC – click “save as PDF” • On an older PC – Many op7ons available – www.doPDF.com – Func7ons as a virtual printer – Click print and then select the loca7on
Dropbox – www.dropbox.com – Sign up and download the so^ware – Save files to dropbox
• Can organize as you would tubs – Download the so^ware to other computers – Files automa7cally update when computer logs on

• www.evernote.com • Organize into notebooks online • Organize it yourself or let evernote do it • Can work on almost any computer • Can search inside files
Google Docs
• Docs.google.com • Create a google account • Save documents • Invite others to share them – Students can upload
Google Drive
• Save to your computer and sync to the cloud • Mobile apps available • Use the same login for gmail, google reader, and google drive

Lessons Learned from 2011-‐2012
• You may NOT use anything during prep5me that has been copied-‐and-‐pasted into a word document.
• All ar7cles should be saved as PDF documents. • All ar7cles should have the URL printed on the document. If there is something on the ar7cle that makes it clear that it was downloaded from the internet (copyright, header from the source, etc.), you should be OK, but PROTECT YOURSELF!

A Note About Tablet Use
• With any tablet, you MUST turn off any internet connec7on.
• If you are using an iPad, you may have to take addi7onal steps a^er you have saved the ar7cles before they can be used when the tablet is not connected to the internet.
Using RSS feeds
• Reader.google.com – Can load RSS feeds from any number of sources – Set up a team account – Students save ar7cles without having repeats – Assign newspapers to individual team members
Monitoring
• Monitoring students and computers – Extra staff – Random searches of computers – NO! – Pay careful aken7on to what is accessed
