Green Frog’ delighted the
audience. One and all, unit-
ed , to sing, for the first time,
Nowendoc Public School
Song. We had a wonderful
day and we appreciate your
support.
This Friday we begin the
2014 Kindy Transition Pro-
gram. Emily is very excited to
have Nick join us. Phoebe
and Charlotte are very excit-
ed to have Amy join us. Dan-
ielle and Belinda are very
excited to have Nick and
Amy join us!
Thank you to everyone for
enabling me to enjoy my
three days of Personal Leave
in Sydney. Special thanks to
Tracey!
Keep smiling!
Ok, it’s time to stop the clock
now! Accepting that we are
half way through Term 3, is a
little difficult. In the blink of an
eye, the months have melted
away. As Parker said, ‘Time
flies when you’re having fun”.
Simple little statements like
this, made innocently during
the day, bring a smile. It
shows me that discussions
we shared at the beginning of
the year have been thought
about, synthesized, and un-
derstood.
Phoebe using the word,
‘cantankerous’, to describe
someone and then looking at
me and asking, ‘Did I use it
right?’, shows me that she
has listened, thought about it,
and is now feeling comforta-
ble to have a go at using it
herself.
Recently it was Literacy and
Numeracy Week. Parker and
Phoebe’s comments show us
how their literacy learning,
and Tracey and my literacy
learning of where each child
is at, with their learning, is
embedded in our everyday
activities.
We hope you enjoy reading
Parker, Emily, and Char-
lotte’s celebration of Literacy
Week.
Thank you to all the family
and friends who shared our
Education Week assembly
with us. As you can see from
the photos, we had proud
parents and children, as Emi-
ly Robards and Parker
Doherty, officially became
our School Captains.

What a pleasure it has

Phoebe and Charlotte for
three days straight.
I was very proud to witness
each student make great

amazing descriptions of what
can be done in their tree. I
hope you enjoy them.
School Captains 2013
Beau Holstein, Catherine Doherty, Parker Doherty, Danielle
Robards, Blake Robards, Nigel Robards, Emily Robards
During Education Week we celebrated the Induction of our 2013 School Captains.
Emily Robards and Parker Doherty, our two Year 2 students, have displayed lead-
ership skills during the first part of this year so it was with much pride they ac-
cepted the Captains’ responsibility.
During a Small Schools Day, at Nowendoc Public, we have seen Emily and Parker
lead a coordinated Operation Tidy Up, at the end of a wet lunch. A commendable
achievement; our two little diplomats managed the visiting senior Year 5/6 stu-
dents with charm and grace.
Congratulations Emily and Parker!

The Magnificent Tree
The Magnificent Tree—Emily Robards, Year 2
My magnificent tree has a blue bell to tell the kids when it is time to go home Parker is sliding
down the hot pink slide, next to the green slide, into the rainbow ball pit. I’m on the swing; Amy is
climbing the ladder up the side of the tree trunk. Nick is sliding down the green fireman’s pole
into the blanket and cushions. Phoebe is walking across the bridge, balancing with her arms out,
looking at the beautiful rainbow in the background. Charlotte’s on the trampoline jumping high
jumps, trying to touch the sky. There is a TV in the middle of the tree for kids to watch when they
get tired. There is a shower in case someone gets really dirty at the Magnificent Tree. My tree
attracts lots of butterflies and children!
The Magnificent Tree
The Magnificent Tree—Parker Doherty, Yr 2
This is my magnificent tree. To begin with you climb up the tricky climbing tree. Once you get up
to the top you have to slide down the firemen’s pole and then you bounce up, off the bouncy
cushions, through the fire, onto the giraffe’s neck. Then there is a rainbow slide you climb up to
the top on. Charlotte is doing exercise on the exercise bike. When we don’t know it’s broken,
sometimes it falls off and goes down the giraffe, through the fire, then bounces back up to where
it sits so dad can catch it. Emily bounces up to the birds on the bouncy cushions. Emily saw a
baby bird that couldn’t fly. She bounced up to the baby bird, grabbed it and threw it to its mother.
Charlotte fell off the bike and went down the giraffe, through the fire and bounced all the way to
the rainbow slide. I scared Emily and Charlotte, so we climbed down to Phoebe on the tricky tree
so we could help Phoebe climb up and have fun! Phoebe finally got to the top of the tricky tree
and had a great day!
The Magnificent Tree
The Magnificent Tree -By Charlotte Laurie, Kindy
My magnificent tree has heaps of butterflies and two rainbows. Emily is climbing up the ladder to
see the butterflies. I am swinging on the swing at the bottom of the tree. Phoebe is sliding down
the ball slide into a ball pit. There are two golden bells that ring when the butterflies come on the
wind. One is when everyone goes home and the other is for when the giraffe comes. He comes
to eat the leaves off when they grow too fast. There is a red and purple fireman’s pole running
between the ladders. The pink ladder is for ringing the bell. There is a bridge to go across the
tree and into the pink pool. My tree attracts everybody!
