WORKS IN THE SHARING ECONOMY

“We believe there is no absence of creativity and good ideas in the world. The problem is a crisis of access, scale, resources and impact.”

“ So what would happen if there were places to go to access resources, connections, knowledge and investment?

“What would happen if there were places to go to make things happen. “All the tools and trimmings needed to cultivate an idea,

launch a project, host a meeting and run a business.”

Just in-time access to opportunities, collaborators and professional expertise. Spaces, knowledge and interventions that can be enjoyed by the hour, the day or the month – with the flexibility to scale up, wind down, change gear and move on. This is the place for people

making differences”.

Characteristics of Sharing Economy - Based on trust, transparency and human connection - utilize excess capacity- allow ordinary people to be micro entrepreneurs- economic empowering and democratizing the economy - Better for the environment- community resilience- valued at billions of dollars - Very disruptive

A Few Thoughts- Sharing economy not only contribute to economic growth, but the triple E (economy, environment, social equity), we need to measure the success with the time saved, happiness increased, trust built, reduced impact created.-  Are we really sharing (gift economy) or are we merely paying to access

other’s human and physical asset in a lower rate? What kind of role does the social elements (sharing) play here? This is still a heavily subsidized industry. i.e. If uber and all other taxi software stops subsidizing the cost of the ride, will the users and drivers still be looking into this?

- The essence of sharing economy, different from old economy, is about creates and spreads wealth throughout communities, and works to reverse the trend of increasing wealth concentration. Currently most of the sharing economy based company are VC funded.-  These companies are not yet sharing data with one another so we

need to build our trust and reputation in every single platforms. -  Companies such as Uber and Airbnb are still operating in grey

areas and profit from not paying tax.-  What will be the risk being manipulated by these new

intermediaries?

-

A Few Thoughts

How is the sharing economy happening in China different?

 - Sharing Power be problematic in China: Sharing economy is

about spreading power throughout communities through democratic and highly participatory governance structures, instead of concentrating power and granting control based on capital ownership. Would this be possible under the current “Big government, small society” structure in China?

- Dominated by transactional relationship.

The uncertainty of free agents’ own futureLack of commitment and loyalty to the brand/communityComprised quality of the collaboration output More data scientists are needed to make sense of the “big data” analytics Rating and reviews are the key factors of C2C marketplace to foster trust

My Lessons Learned

How will this impact the future of work?

1, Work will be short and flexible

Lifelong career will be obsolete

Work comes and work goes…

And we are competing with talents around the globe

You need to be flexible and agile

And be different!

2,The world is flat, so is our work

No More Commute

It is about Communication

Office is compulsory or a place to meet

Work can be done anywhere

The most important skills are coordination, cultivation and

collaboration.

Control and manipulation

no longer works

3, Work will be More Competitive

Diploma cannot

guarantee your job.

Continuous learning can!

You need to learn, unlearn and relearn, forever.

The quickest way to learn is to share and through peer learning

Collaboration makes us competitive

Sharing Economy is not just about building

more transactions for stuff, transport, space, food; it is to foster empathy, care and deep

human connections.

Then, we will get somewhere…
