Dear Key Clubbers,
Hello Everyone! Another month has
pasted yet again and here we are- one step closer to the
end of the Key Club term! It’s completely crazy how
fast time has gone, but February definitely had much
love!
Not only was there Valentine’s Day, but also
the celebration of my eighteenth birthday on February
1st! It really opens your eyes when that age hits you!
Not only was it a celebration for me, but the following
day was also the celebration of our new LTG for the
2013 – 2014 term elect, RJ Immerman! Huge
congratulations to our very own Secretary A for
winning the position! Not only were we able to find
out our new LTG Elect, but also find out Coronado
KC’s elected board! This definitely was an eventful
month with much more to come for March,
considering the fact that it will be my last newsletter!
In this month’s issue we’ll be reflecting upon
past events such as Conclave, Officer Elect Results,
Valentine’s Grams, Sadie’s Carnival, and the
Coronado KC Car Wash Fundraiser! I hope you all
enjoy this month’s issue of “The Cougar Claw”! If
there are any questions, comments, or concerns, please
feel free to contact one of us through our desired
emails! Have a great month everyone!

Sadie’s Carnival
WHERE: CHS Gymnasium
WHEN: Saturday, January 26th
TIME: 4 – 7 PM The Sadie’s Carnival is hosted by our very own CHS
Cheerleaders this year! We are going to have a booth to
sell drinks and snacks!
“On Saturday, January 26th, Coronado High School held
their Sadie’s Carnival dance! Considering this opportunity,
Coronado Key Club took the initiative of selling drinks to
help fundraise for DCON. The beverages sold ranged from
teas, waters, to various sodas. The experience was very fun
inside the concession stand with the amounts of volunteers
we had at the event. We took turns when it came to shifts
where we were able to wander inside to experience the
Sadie’s Dance ourselves. It was definitely a great experience!”

The Color Run
WHERE: Fremont Street or Palms Casino Resort
WHEN: Saturday, February 16th
HOURS: 3 – 4
The Color Run is a 5K-marathon downtown.
Runners will start at the finish line wearing white
shirts. As they reach each kilometer color zones,
volunteers, sponsors, and staff will splash the
runners with colors.
“This year was my first time hearing about the Color Run. Waking up at 5 AM and heading down to Fremont St. was a pain, but it was worth it. When I got there, there were many runners decorated in rainbow accessories. I got the job of handing out water at the finish line. There wasn't much to do in the beginning, but when runners started appearing one by one across the finish line, I was surprised at how colorful they were. Adults and kids were coated all with an assortment of colors. People would throw their color packets all over at the end of the race as well. There was also a big, I guess you can say, dance party after the finishing line and there would be a time where everyone would throw a color packet a once. Smokes of color hovered around, and it looked really cool. They also had funnel cake at the Color Run which I didn't get to taste, sadly. Overall, I had a fun time even though my arm is still sore from handing out all the water! I would definitely be going next year!” -ELAINA XIE

Coronado KC Car Wash Fund.
WHERE: CHS Parking Lot
WHEN: Saturday, February 16th
TIME: 9:00 – 1:30 PM
In order to decrease the costs of DCON, Coronado
Key Club will be having another carwash to supply as
a fundraiser.
“Attending the Coronado Key Club car wash, I had so much
fun with my friends and fellow club members while working
hard to help raise money for DCON. Even though we were kind
of short on supplies, cars, and members I had tons of fun with
everyone who attended our “Gucci car wash”. I really wanted to
attend this event because our car wash earlier in the year was
where I met most of my key club friends, so this car wash really
brought back those memories. This was also my first event as the
bulletin editor elect, so I’ll always remember the great time I had
volunteering at this event going forward in my amazing key club
life! And most importantly we raised over $200!”
