Installation of Reverend Daniel O’Neill , O.Carm.
Pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church
My dear Parishioners, I announce to you today that I have appointed the Reverend Daniel O’Neill, O.Carm., as Pastor of the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Tenafly, New Jersey. Father O’Neill comes to you with many years of dedicated parochial experience. In all his assignments he has been a faithful representative of Our Lord, ministering to the needs of people with tremendous dedication and zeal. A Pastor is to care for his people, preach the good news of Jesus Christ, and make them holy by celebrating the Sacraments. He works in harmony with his Bishop, “to bring the faithful together like a unified family so that they may be led effectively through Christ in the Holy Spirit to the Father.” (Instruction in the Rite of Ordination to the Priesthood.) As a true leader, he should listen to his people and discover their needs. He will often consult with the Pastoral Council and work with them to accomplish the mission of Christ in his parish. “All pastors should remember, too, that by their daily conduct and concern, they are reflecting the face of the Church to the World.” (Document of Vatican II, “The Church Today.” No. 43.) I ask you to receive Father O’Neill warmly, cooperating with him in every way in his new role as pastor. Continue to offer him your assistance and support as you have for pastors before him. Pray for him so that the Lord may give him the holiness and strength he needs to carry out the responsibilities of his office. I send my prayers and my blessings to all the members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish on this very happy occasion. With kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely in the Lord,
Most Reverend John J. Myers Archbishop of Newark

actions, or even at their difficulty, as at the love with
which we do them.”

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS NEEDED!!
At this time we have nearly 70 Eucharistic Ministers already trained and serving at various Masses. It would be nice to have about 30 more. In addition to serving at Mass, various Eucharistic Ministers also bring Holy Communion to the homebound, to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, and to County Manor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. We recently have been asked to celebrate Mass at Brightview Manor and to bring Communion there as well. So, we welcome additional Eucharistic Ministers to help with this facet of the ministry. If you are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister, please complete this form and return it to the Religious Education Office. We look forward to welcoming you to this ministry! RESPECT LIFE
A representative from the Sisters of Life will be speaking at all three Masses next week on Respect Life Sunday, October 4th.
The Sisters of Life, founded in 1991 by John Cardinal O’Connor, devote themselves to protecting and enhancing human life at all stages, from conception to natural death. They do this through constant prayer and daily care of women who have chosen life over death. After the Masses, some of the Sisters will be distributing literature in the church narthex.
“It is horrific even to think that there are children, victims of abortion, who will never see the light of day.”
