The Drainage SystemThe entire system performed remarkably well

Detention ponds filled first as designed

Streets filled next as designed

House flooding was minimal (less than .2%)

By Wednesday Sept 6th all ponds were back to

normal (7 days)

Hurricane Harvey: MUD 23

The StreetsMany streets were impassable for varying

lengths of time starting Saturday, August 26th

Teal Run, Teal Run North, Estates of Teal Run and

Cambridge Falls were drivable Tuesday, August

29th

Andover Farms and Winfield Lakes became fully

drivable Wednesday, August 30th

Common MisconceptionsSpecific to MUD 23

We have NO gates that are opened or

closed to control flooding

We have NO pumps that help get the water

off the streets and into the ponds (Gravity

does that)

We are NOT in a Levee Improvement

District

MUD 23 Drainage System

Storm

Sewer

Ditches

Detention

Pond

Storm Water Pumps in Andover Farms

These Pumps move

water from the

detention pond to

the outfall channel

(Chocolate Bayou)

Storm Water Pumps (pond near Burton Elementary)

These pumps move

water from the

detention pond to

the outfall ditch,

which then drains

into Longpoint

Creek.

MUD 23 Drainage System

All aspects of the system are built to Fort Bend

County Drainage District standards

Water accumulating in the street IS part of the

drainage plan

Anyone concerned with being temporarily

trapped in a home should consider voluntary

evacuation as hurricanes or tropical storms

approach Houston
